- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018Storm Front is the fifth book in Susan May Warren’s Montana Rescue series, coming after Wild Montana Skies, Rescue Me, A Matter of Trust, and Troubled Waters. I have really, really been enjoying this series, and I have to say, I think Storm Font is one of my favorite ones yet. I knew a little bit about Ty and Brette’s story from A Matter of Trust, since Susan is so great about weaving bits and pieces of other character’s stories into every book, and since Brette is close friends with Ella Blair, one of the main characters in that third novel. Since I had already fallen in love with the two of them, I was very excited for this novel, but I had no idea what was really in store. Ty is amazing. Just, absolutely, amazing. And I loved getting to know more about his past, and what made him who he was and caused him to be the caring, compassionate hero I found in this book.
Since every good story also needs a little bit of action, Susan incorporated tornadoes and missing children into this one, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better. Although in reality, tornadoes scare me to death, I absolutely loved reading about the ones in this novel. There were quite a few, and every time there was action and danger and just a little bit of worry, and it gave such a perfect sense of drama to add to the love story that was developing.
One of my favorite aspects of this story, however, was the theme of redemption that ran through it all. Brette is going through so much when we meet up with her in this story, and she has been through even more in the time that has passed since we were first introduced to her, and it just made my heart go out to her in ways I couldn’t deny. I longed for her to realize God’s sovereignty through it all, and I so badly wanted her to be healed, not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. But let me refrain from giving away any spoilers; as much as I never want to do that, I also love talking about what I’m reading!
All in all, I absolutely loved every part of this novel, and I practically sped my way through it. I highly recommend it as a FANTASTIC summer read, or anytime read really, though I would DEFINITELY suggest reading all of the series in order. Although you could probably get away without it, you might be just a little bit lost, and the stories are much better read all together. They were just written to be that way.
I happily give Storm Front all five bookshelves, and a place on my all-time favorites list along with the rest of the series. Susan’s writing has just been getting better and better—even though it was already phenomenal to begin with—and I absolutely cannot wait to read the final book in the series. Too bad for me that it doesn’t come out until November. Either way, Wait for Me will be the perfect conclusion to the series.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2018As a huge Susan May Warren fan, I could not wait to read Storm Front! I loved Ty from previous novels and was excited to read his story.
Ty is a complex hero. I appreciate the depth of character Warren creates as he deals with self-doubt and struggles to regain his confidence as a chopper pilot. His thought processes are believable and encourage readers to face their own fears. Brette’s physical and emotional complications are heartbreaking. She is so strong and independent and yet completely smitten by Ty’s dedication to her. Fans of Warren’s Montana Rescue series will love the appearance of so many beloved characters. They aren’t just mentioned in passing, their lives and stories are intertwined with Ty and Brette.
I did not reread the earlier books in the series before starting this novel, and I wish I had. Ty and Brette met prior to the beginning of Storm Front, and while their meeting is mentioned in passing several times, I found myself wishing for a stronger description of their emotional connection. A flashback to those few hours when they first met would have made me pull for them even sooner. Despite that, readers will be cheering for Brette and Ty and eagerly anticipating Wait for Me, the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2018Storm Front frustrated me, but not because of the writing. It's because from the release date onward, I looked for it in every bookstore I visited. Not one of them ever had it, so I finally downloaded a copy to my Kindle. Wow, was it worth the wait! I think this might be Susan May Warren's best Montana Rescue book yet.
I can't put my finger on why, but it felt like I was more invested in this Montana Rescue story than any of the others, perhaps because Susie spent most of her time with just two to four members of the team (Brette and Ty, Ben and Kacey). And I have to admit, it was nice to get a break from that Pete-Ty-Jess love triangle plot. Here. Ty shines on every page; I may have enjoyed him even more than his heroine Brette. As the cover will tell you, he's a hottie, but I loved his heart and soul even more.
That's not to say Brette is forgettable, because she's anything but. Brette's character perfectly combines capable and vulnerable, the picture of a strong woman ravaged by storms she never asked for and didn't deserve. Brette takes an interesting trajectory in response, hurtling into the vortexes of literal, natural storms to cope with the physical and emotional ones inside. It makes for a great character arc, and some heavy romantic tension with Ty.
The spiritual threads in Storm Front are some of Susie's best, relatable and deftly written. I actually put my Kindle down to pray a couple times. The theme of hope hits home without being preachy, and both honesty and trust are encouraged. Two of my favorite scenes involve our lead couple screaming and throwing apples, and experiencing faith-based epiphanies while riding out a secondary storm. Bonus brownie points: as a bookworm, I love that they also get stranded in a library that holds the critical clue to the climax.
Final verdict? Read it--you're gonna love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful
Every single book in this series has been thoroughly engrossing; each storyline different but with that beautiful thread of love, and particularly God's love towards each of us running through the narrative. These book can also be a great evangelical tool. In this story the concept of love bound together with the devastating illness of cancer was very impacting. And of course it wouldn't be a "Rescue" book without the gripping background!

4.0 out of 5 stars Romantic conflicts
I enjoy SM Warren's writing. I read this one in 24 hr. The tornado theme brought the rescue crew all together with thrilling results and multiple rescues. However, there were 3 couples with relationship issues, that repeated their issues in this book and I got tired of that. Can't people reunite and just love each other? Or fall in love and become a couple? I was disappointed in how much conflict the people experienced. HOWEVER - lots of very good quotes on copy with fear, stress and disappointment in God, from a Biblical standpoint.
