High-Stakes Mystery & Romantic Suspense
Carrie and Trevor make for strong main characters. They’re determined and smart-they’re also stubborn. While each may have their own agenda they work well together which adds to the chemistry that builds between them. Following them through their investigation leads to some red herrings but also to unexpected answers. Intense action scenes and close encounters meet them along the way keeping the story flowing at a good pace. The story line was really well written and well plotted intertwining their individual quests. There was a lot of suspense in this book surrounding the clues. More questions appear as surprise twists are unearthed. The high stakes scenarios give way to a big ending where all the puzzle pieces fit into place. The combination of budding romance and mystery made this an all around good read. The author did a nice job of keeping me on my toes with anticipation.

Personally, I enjoyed this story a lot. I connected with the characters and truly liked them. Carrie was betrayed by someone she loved at a deep level, and it colored the way she lived her life going forward. A man named Isaac was someone who rescued her and helped her start a new life in Alaska. Like a favorite uncle, she clung to him over the years to help her heal and move forward. Trevor West's sister has been missing for a year and when he finally gets a clue that leads him to a small town in Alaska, he grabs it and journeys there. Carrie is a pilot of a float plane and he hires her to fly over some areas where he can match some photos that his sister left. Those photos lead Carrie and Trevor on a very dangerous adventure and suddenly they have people chasing them and trying to kill them. But are they after Carrie or Trevor? And why does someone end up dead that is close to Carrie? There are a lot of questions and not enough answers! I really liked learning a lot about Alaska and Carrie's knowledge of how to deal with emergencies in that area of the world. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and characters from the first book in the series. I highly recommend this book!

When a quote like that exists in a book, you know there is an intriguing plot! There have been very few books I have ever read twice in my almost 65 years of living. Author Elizabeth Goddard’s newest release, Shadows at Dusk (Missing in Alaska Book 2), is on that shortlist! It is a riveting romantic suspense! The first time I read it, I believed it was my favorite of Goddard’s releases. After reading it the second time, I am even more convinced of it! (I read at least ten or more books between readings.)

Goddard hits all the points of excellent romantic suspense for me since she uses suspense to build the romance. She has created multidimensional characters who display both ends of the spectrum regarding good and evil. Goddard has a plot that is interesting, unique, and complex and entangles two broken, hurting people learning to trust each other to survive the pursuit of their lives. This book is dynamic from the first page to the last!

It's with that premise our thrilling story begins! A year ago Detective Trevor's sister Jennifer disappears somewhere in Alaska and he must find out what happened to her. A decade ago,
Bush pilot Carrie James survived what should have been certain death & now her closest friend was killed. Trevor hires Carrie to help him solve the mystery of his sister & she wants to track down her friends’ killer. As these two work together, danger lurks at their heels. Can they find answers before it's too late?

It's been a while since I've read a suspense book, but I know Goddard is an expert story teller so I knew I was in for a treat! First of all, I had to look up some of the places in Alaska she sets the story in. What a beautifully rugged area it is, and now I want to plan a trip there one day to explore all of God's beauty in nature. I also didn't realize Alaska is made up of several islands, each one with its own beauty and allure. A definite must-see! So it gave me an idea of just how remote of a place it could be for someone to disappear without a trace. That added an extra layer of danger to me and sets the stage for what our characters went through. I really enjoy what I consider missing persons and cold cases, so this was the perfect story to get lost in. I like how the author balances the suspense throughout so you're not always left breathless and on the run constantly from the bad guys. There are plenty of close calls for Trevor & Carrie, of course, but there's also time for them to work out their next move. As they close in to solve both cases, it was a mad race to the end of the book to find out who was behind everything. I had an inkling of whodunit, but never knew for sure. That's what sets an author apart for me, when they can write so well as to hide the villain until the very end! <i> Shadows at Dusk </i> is a thrilling ride, one that kept me on my toes guessing and turning pages with lightning speed! The faith thread is strong in Trevor & Carrie and their romance is a slow burn, never overshadowing the plotline. Rather it was an added bonus! What a ride.

I'd recommend this to fans of inspirational romantic suspense and those who enjoy a good book that keeps you up until late into the night! Goddard is an expert writer and it shines in her latest installment of the Missing in Alaska series.

This suspense has everything you could want, mystery, intrigue, remote locations, and of course romance, though that part is not the focus of the story, more a delightful addition.

Carrie and Trevor find themselves thrown together to solve a mystery, a couple of mysteries to be precise and the danger factor keeps increasing. Also along for the ride is Autumn Long, Sheriff of Shadow Gap who was the subject of the previous book in the series, Cold Light of Day.

The suspense and mystery will take your breath away as well as the breathtaking views that are only limited by your imagination as the descriptions are beautifully done.

You would think it would be easier to get away with things in the wilds of Alaska where there is much unpopulated and undiscovered, but this book proves its possible. The characters are wonderful, the scenery amazing, and the story complex. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good suspense.

There were some beautiful faith elements to make this a true Christian Suspense.
