Good story.

Elizabeth Spann Craig writes a fun and cozy mystery. Small town, but certainly not quiet. Even on the high seas, our hero can find something to solve and it is usually a murder. The violence is there described as how the person or persons were murdered, but not all the gory details. Very happy I found this series and new friends.

When Myrtle Clover’s son and his family go on a cruise, the invite Myrtle and her best friend Miles to go along. A nice cruise along the Alaskan coast seems like the perfect way to relax, see some amazing sights, and stuff themselves with salmon. But before they go on the trip, Myrtle receives a warning that she’s in danger on the trip, and not from a sinking ship.

Several days into the cruise, an acquaintance of Myrtle’s is found dead, and all things point to foul play. With the victim’s entire family and some friends on the cruise, and the growing revelation that the victim was quite the unpleasant person, there is no shortage of suspects. Once again, Myrtle takes up the case, much to the displeasure of her son, Red, and she begins to unravel the puzzle of what happened. But the warning of danger proves to be true. Can Myrtle survive this case, or will she be sleeping with the fishes in an Alaskan bay?

This mystery completely takes us out of Bradley, North Carolina, where all of the other books have been set. With some of the usual familiar characters, there is the sense of a Myrtle Clover mystery, but the setting is so different, and it is a nice change. The mystery was delightful, and I was surprised at who the killer was. This book was a joy to read, and it adds another mystery to this wonderful series.

If you enjoy the other Myrtle Clover Mystery books, then this one will add some spice to the series. With an entirely new setting, we are treated to a plethora of new experiences through the eyes of our sharp-tongued octogenarian sleuth. I wouldn’t recommend starting at this book, but if you’ve read some of the others, I think you will enjoy this one.

Myrtle Clover is one of my favorite cozy mystery characters of all time. I've read this entire series and the most recent installment is as enjoyable as the inaugural novel. This isn't a series that fizzles out after a few books. Each one can stand alone and you could read them out of order and still be entertained.

In Cruising for Murder, Myrtle and her loved ones (son and daughter-in-law, toddler grandson, and her BFF neighbor) take an Alaskan cruise. The story contains details about the cruise that add interest and complement the plot. It also shared some interesting details about cruises - like the days-of-the-week rugs!

After Myrtle and her BFF agree to play bridge with some other guests on the cruise, someone winds up dead. Then someone else in the party winds up dead. Because murders at sea don't get the same type of investigation as murders on land, it's up to our favorite octogenarian sleuth, her BFF, and her son - who is a policeman in their North Carolina hometown - to figure out who did it.

Back home, Myrtle has a gnome collection that she uses to torment her son. One of my favorite moments in this book was when she found a way to use the tactic aboard the cruise ship. It was an unexpected move that kept me in stitches.

I look forward to reading Myrtle's next adventure!

Just when I think the author has taken this insightful octogenarian and the rest of her gang as far as she can go, she surprises, and delights, me again! I love Myrtle, and she's back in the 10th installment of the series, complete with her family and Miles in tow for this murder mystery on the high seas! My only disappointment --- reading the last page, where I discover that I will have to wait a whole YEAR for the next Myrtle Clover Mystery!

If you've read other Myrtle Clover mysteries, this one does not disappoint! You will enjoy it, so buy and read the book, now! If you've not read her before, you are in for a treat! It's hard to describe Myrtle, because she's truly an original, and unforgettable, character. She's older than Jane Marple or Mrs. Pollifax, but a great deal more insightful, witty and entertaining. Like Poirot, she uses her powers of observation, and interrogation, to get to the bottom of things, and like other literary detectives she has quite the ensemble of eccentric and helpful sidekicks to assist her. So, don't be a stick in the mud - read this or another Myrtle Clover mystery and give this crime fighting grandma a chance - you can thank me later!

Elizabeth Spann Craig's Myrtle Clover mysteries get better with each new book. This latest mystery was very satisfying, taking Myrtle out of NC , but not out of her element! For fans of this series, do read it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Myrtle is up to her antics again on an Alaskan cruise and the excitement never stops. This is a wonderful and funny series and the latest book does not disappoint. The beloved gnomes are even included! The change of scenery and activities is a great change for the series but most of the usual characters are on the cruise so I really liked that. Myrtle and Miles are the best team. The book has a really good story and is interesting from start to finish. Even though Myrtle is older, she is spunky and well able to improvise, and I love how smart she is. Characters or rather suspects just seem to open up to her and some of the situations she comes up with to get them to open up to her. The ending was very goid and as usual, I am looking forward to more Myrtle and trouble.

One of my favorite things about this series is Myrtle. I love her quirkiness, her crankiness and her persistence in solving murders. I've also grown quite fond of Myrtle's friends and family and her interactions with them. I was wondering how it would work to have Myrtle leave her home town and everyone behind to go solve a case on a cruise ship, but I shouldn't have worried. Myrtle brings her family and sidekick along and we get to see them interact in new and interesting ways on the cruise ship. The author also skillfully connects us back to Myrtle's hometown and the characters who didn't get to go along on the cruise. Looking forward to Myrtle's next adventure!

I have read all of the Myrtle Clover books up to this one and have enjoyed all of them. They are easy to read but it is the characters that I like and I am looking forward to the next one on the list.

I am a sucker for this series, despite all the odds. They are a quick, entertaining read. Myrtle is a sassy sleuth who I would like to have as a pal. Lucky Miles! Reading these books is like checking in with your friends and family back home. Hope the next one is well underway.

This is the latest in the Myrtle Clover series. A good modern example of the Miss Marple type of character. Rather off putting if you were going on a crusie. Is it true you rely on the boat's security to investigate?
