Amelia Lennon no longer wears a uniform or carries a weapon. An Army trained Foreign Affairs Officer, she’s negotiating a dispute with the Kyrgyzstan government that threatens to leave the U.S. without an airbase in that region. She traded her gun for the power of words, but now she needs both.

While following her government contact - Jildiz Oskonbaeva, the lawyer daughter of Kyrgyzstan’s president - Amelia witnesses an attempt to abduct her. She manages to prevent the kidnapping, but now the two women are on the run in a city that’s erupting into chaos.

Master Sergeant J.J. Bartley is the Special Operations team leader tasked to rescue Amelia and Jildiz. With two new members in his unit - one with a secret that could endanger everyone’s life - J.J. must soldier his unit through crazed mobs intent on overthrowing the government. Back home, his pregnant wife is misinformed that her husband and the team have been killed. But before this is over, Bartley will find out that’s the least of his problems.

I selected this book for the location, to learn more about a distant land a friend's son had lived in for a year. I never expected to be captured by the characters, truly great warriors, men and women and a story that crosses cultural divides.

While I'm no military expert, the action seemed realistic and reminded me of the Bobby Lee Swagger stories. Everyone of the main and secondary characters were well developed and believable

Enjoy!

J. J. is now team leader with two new members assigned. A sudden mission to Kyrgyzstan tests his new role and the cohesion of the team. A female Foreign Affairs Officer is caught up in the political upheaval of Kyrgyzstan, running and hiding from "bad guys". Excellent read, highly enjoyed!!

This action-packed story kept me engaged from beginning to end. American Foreign Affairs Agent Amelia Lenner is only supposed to be on a diplomatic mission, but when the Jildiz, the daughter of the President of Kyrgyzstan, is kidnapped right in front of her, Amelia makes a dramatic rescue. A military team is sent to track and recover the two women, who are now on the run from unknown bad guy amidst rioting crowds with a penchant for arson. The authors give great attention to detail, providing believable background and explanations for all the events that take place.

Even the families the soldiers have left behind are fleshed out, giving the reader an inside look at the sacrifices made not only by the military, but by their wives and extended family. Some touching moments involving that. The dialogue between the characters is witty and entertaining, but all of the American characters seem to have the same quick sense of humor, so aside from some other distinguishing characteristics, it was hard to keep track of who was cracking the latest joke.

My only other complaint is probably a matter of taste; I realize this is a military novel, and war is ugly and violent, but I could have done without the graphic descriptions of blood and brain matter splattering, an image that was revisited multiple times. There were several similar instances, like the description of how a head sounded when being crushed by a fire extinguisher, that sort of thing. The good thing, though, is that the characters don't enjoy maiming and killing; they do it only when absolutely necessary, so this is a violent book with a conscience. If an honest presentation of killing and hand-to-hand combat doesn't bother you, this story is worth reading.

Awesome action filled book from start to finish. Hard to put down...Can't wait to read the next book.

Great portrayal of some of the difficult tasks our miltary and special ops face each day...and many that may never be known to the public.

I really loved this series and the characters, and this was the best one of the three I have read so far, I couldn't put it down. A little proofing should have been done, more so on this book than the other two. There was one place that I think he changed, but accidentally left a little portion in the text. It was confusing at first, but I quickly realized what had happened.

While this is fiction gives you very realistic circumstances that our brave military face every minute; both on the front lines and at home; very well written; keeps you on the edge of your seat and can't put it down! Have read all his books so far ... good book to have in your home library.

Ganskys mystery series are great; Capt Stuecker is a US Ranger who fought in Solamia (Blackhawk down). Thier stories show how a Christian can let the life of salvation and following Jesus doesnt mean you have to be a religious freak. The characters are like us and their stories encourage you thru your struggles and still keep the faith of Christ.

But my biggest question is why did you put them in Fort Jackson? That’s mostly basic training. Rangers are at Fort Benning and a couple of other places.
