Johann Gutenberg invented a world–changing machine that meant people could read God’s Word for themselves. The world could share ideas, discoveries and new and God’s Word could be quickly, inexpensively and accurately reproduced. Danika Cooley helps 9–11 year–olds discover how the printing press paved the way for the Reformation.

Love it! This book has history, culture, theology, humor, and the gospel all in an easy-to-read, fun story. I love Danika Cooley's style of writing. It feels like I am listening to a mom playfully telling her kids stories from church history. She tells the story in a way that makes me feel like I personally know Gutenburg, nicknames and all. Cooley doesn't shy away from the hard truths of history, but tells the stories in ways that kids can easily understand and equips parents to answer questions kids may have. The book is filled with grace and truth, as Cooley lovingly corrects the poor theology happening during the Reformation and points the reader to the gift of salvation through Christ alone and the knowledge of God through his Word. Such a great resource for Christian families!

Wow! I learned so much about Johann Gutenberg and the printing press that I never knew before. This book is great as a read-aloud because adults will like it along with the kids you're reading it to. What will you learn? The Death Ships, Jan Hus, John Wycliffe, the town where Johann Gutenberg lived, who wrote the Bible, different ways paper was made, others who created a similar printing press to Gutenberg's, scribes, Gutenberg's loans and how he lost access to his business by going into debt, the Gutenberg Bible, and much more!

(Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this book so I could honestly review it here. All opinions are my own.)

We really enjoyed using this book as a read aloud to learn about the Gutenberg Bible. Fascinating and educational! I loved showing my children how God used events, innovations, and the faithfulness of believers to spread His Word across the world. Definitely recommend having a copy of this along with the rest of The Who, What, Why? series!

In today’s world it is hard to understand not having readily available access to a Bible, but that has not always been the case. This book shares about the Gutenberg Bible in a way that helps students understand the importance of this advancement. A great read aloud or independent read. We look forward to more books in this series.

I loved the simplicity of this book. It is packed with interesting information, fun facts, and tons of action to keep your kids (and you) turning pages! It’s perfect for family read alouds or for your middle grade (aged 8-11) student to read on their own. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed reading this book that is part of the Who, What, Why series! Kids will learn of the perils involved in the printing of the Bible. I love the way Danika has shared the Gospel in all three books in this series.

I can't believe how much theology you were able to fit into these books in such an engaging way! These are so deep but so approachable for young kids. Well done!!

Not just about the Bible, but the man Johann Gutenberg and his life around the invention and perfection of his press. The little trinkets of history intertwined are sure to delight! Great for students and parents alike!
