The land of Agarsfar is watched over by the mythic, time-traveling Aldur. There’s just one problem. The Aldur are all but extinct.

Devan is all that remains of his once mighty race. When he discovers a paradox that threatens time itself, he turns to one of history’s greatest heroes, the revered Taul Bladesorrow, famed for uniting a nation torn by magical prejudice. But time has been altered, and society has scorned Bladesorrow. He’d rather watch all existence burn than come to the aid of a people who abandoned him.

Valdin was once of the time-traveling Aldur, now stripped of his powers. He’s made a deal with an ancient evil: The sanctity of time itself for the life of his beloved. He seems a man driven by grief and hate, but he knows things others do not. When his secrets are revealed, some wonder whether his revolution is actually justified. But is risking time itself too high a price to pay, even for justice? Read Bladesorrow now to find out!

Written in the multi-perspective style of A Game of Thrones, Bladesorrow is a 260,000-word epic fantasy for readers who love Robert Jordan and Patrick Rothfuss. Fans of Doctor Who who have wondered what the Doctor might look like as a time-traveling wizard in a fantasy novel will also find much to love in Devan and his quest to save time itself. Buy now to discover whether he can save not just Agarsfar, but all of existence, from destruction.

Daniel (D. T.) Kane is an epic fantasy author and host of the podcast D. T. Kane's Epic Fantasy Book Club, where each week he reads his fiction and discusses it with his audience. He grew up with a dad who read to him about wizards and dragons, and a mom who spent countless hours reviewing his book reports on novels about talking animals. He reads to himself now, but his taste in books hasn’t strayed far from his childhood days. Dan works in the legal field by day and spends nights and weekends working on his next novel. When he isn’t writing, he’s spending time with his wife, Linda, and dog, Buddy. They enjoy traveling, movies, and craft beer (Buddy sticks to water). To learn more, visit www.dtkane.com.

This story was engaging and kept me reading. The characters are developed well. The land they live in is explained over time, while it would be a strange place to live it seemed normal for then. I like the references to time and how some characters can move through it. I'm looking forward to more.

Highly recommended!! This book had me at the edge of seat, unable to put it down. As an avid fantasy reader, I think this book stands up against anything out there. Can't wait to read the next installment(s) in the series.

The author loves their world building and I hope you do too, because they spend pages upon pages talking about the history, the lore, the geography, the creation, the timeline, the time travel, the magic and the politics. All of it being lectured to you, more than once. Repeating information you were told last chapter. This is delivered from characters who I have come to truly hate.
Bladesorrow is an idiot. Ferrin is a mary sure, to a T. And I can only tolerate two teenagers who are totally not in love, but blush every time they look at each other, and will murder anyone who threatens the other, but totally not in love, for so long. Jenerza and Ferrin are guilty of this.
Also, the book contains time Travel, and metaphors used at the end of every other paragraph. Often the same ones, used over and over as you are explained the mechanics of the world and time travel over and over.
There is some nice worldbuilding here and some really nice ideas but there is too much slog to make it worth it. Might be worth an audio book for some background noise.

Not perfect, but certainly worth your time. Disappointed there isn't a sequel yet.

I loved it, author is imaginative and creative in all the right ways. I can not wait to read a sequel and hope this becomes a long epic fantasy series.
