Gods of Green Mountain Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 167 ratings

What if mere mortals could meet their Gods and learn the answers to life's most mysterious questions? Now they can.

Imagine a planet with two blazing suns. A world inhabited by mortals with flaming red hair, saffron colored skin, and violet eyes. A place where extreme and often violent weather conditions force the people underground where they will be safe...until the next furious storm strikes. This strange land is El Sod-A-Por, the ill-favored one, and in the far distance sits the Green Mountain, home of the Gods—Gods who have no mercy. But everything changes when a fearless young man, Far-Awn, defies his father's warnings and travels tirelessly, in search of a star-shaped opalescent flower.

This miraculous plant becomes the source of never-ending food and can even be made into clear atmospheric domes, which enclose entire cities to ensure peace and protection.

Years later El Sod-A-Por is known as El Dorriane, the ideal, and Ras-Far, grandson of the revered Far-Awn, is king. The people happily live a life of plenty—until an entire city is mysteriously wiped out. A civil war between the Upper and Lower Dorrianians ignites, forcing the king to send an entourage of the bravest and strongest men from each province to the Green Mountain to seek answers to this unexpected unrest.

Ras-Far's only child, the beautiful and headstrong Sharita, demands to go with the men across the arid desert plains to meet the Gods.

The handsome barbarian Dray-Gon, from Lower Dorriane, leads the expedition, but he sees the princess as an unnecessary burden. Now he will have to shield her from the ruthless sandstorms and evil outlaws who will attempt to enslave her at any opportunity. As the unprecedented journey begins, their love-hate relationship transforms into an enthralling passion, as the princess's icy exterior begins to thaw and Dray-Gon turns from a hard-edged savage into a gentle hero. But when they finally reach the Green Mountain, they are met with a shocking revelation that challenges everything they ever believed to be true...

This book was very good! I wasn’t sure what to expect. Since VC Andrews never published this herself, being her first written work, I figured there must be a reason she hadn’t had it published. I loved the sci-fi feel to it. VC Andrews, Stephen King and Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child have been my favorite authors since I first became interested in reading for PLEASURE vs. SCHOOL/LEARNING. That was at age 22. I was a late start reading fanatic. I’ve recently added Lee Child to my list of go-to Authors. Andrews remains my only favorite & constant ‘Romance’ author. Although I’ve seen her novels listed as ‘Family Saga’ and ‘Gothic Horror’. I guess that she technically fits in closer to King, Preston & Child and Lee Child than I realized. Either way, Gods of Green Mountain was a very nice surprise. My sister is a VS Andrews Fanatic. She only reads Andrews & Jodi Picoult. I lent her my tablet so she could read Gods of Green Mountain on it. She actually CRIED when I told her I purchased it & was letting her take my tablet with her. She said the ONLY other VS Andrews he has not read is the series that is completely only available on ebook. I think ebook is a GENIUS IDEA, but it shouldn’t be the only option for the items that aren’t available in print! My mom, who started my sister and I reading with HER VC Andres books, is 100% blind in one eye, no shadows or lights or anything. It may medically need to be removed! Her other eye isn’t as good as it use to be either. She has a HORRIBLE time trying to read on her kindle. She replaced it with Kindle paper white (I think that’s what she called it, it helps a little. But she reads with an actual book, her glasses and a SUPER STRONG magnifying glass. The lit screens and the magnifying glass gives her headache from the extra glares. I wish ebooks had the option of being in print as well. I have MS, my eyes are one of my symptoms. They get blurry, color distortion and rotating words/writing. The tablets and my iPhone also make it harder on me.

It was super creative and I think anyone who likes sci fi.or just a creative story will love this. Better than I thought it would be.

This genre does not interest me, but I bought it anyway because I am a VC Andrews fan and a little OCD about reading everything by her. It surprised me as I actually enjoyed it. I wasn't happy with the ending though.

It was an interesting book! Very different from the other V.C. Andrews books! I liked the ending! It all made sense and brought it all together! Is there a copy in paperback? I have all the other books in paperback since Flower's in The Attic which I think I bought in 1979! I would like to be able to pass them all down to my granddaughter someday!

A story that appears to have a great deal hidden meanings. Provides the reader with a seeming version of the Biblical Exodus and Avatar, with an apparent conveyance of lessons to be learned from our past, to deal with issues in the present, to enable a future.

I'm not a big sci fi fan but this book not only grabbed my attention but held it.
When I read the summary of the book I thought that I would struggle to finish it. How wrong I was! It is a shame that it took so long for it to make it into print.

This is one of my favorite scifi novels. I would love to see a physical release
