Second Chances Kindle Edition

A chance encounter reunites a woman with the cowboy who stole her heart in the USA Today–bestselling author’s tender contemporary Western romance.

It was the kind of encounter Billie had seen only in the movies, and never dreamed could happen to her. A rugged, sexy cowboy appeared from out of nowhere to stir her passions—and then, just as quickly, he was gone. For one brief moment in time the walls Billie had built around her heart tumbled. When it was over, she was sure their fiery passion would live on only as a bittersweet memory.

Then fate leads Billie to a sprawling Texas ranch, and there he is again—Matt, her handsome, mysterious stranger, the best thing that had ever happened to her. Knowing that the pain of losing him a second time would be too much, her instinct is to run fast and far away. But Matt let Billie go once and he's not going to make the same mistake again—because nothing on Earth will stop him from grabbing a second chance at love.

About the Author

With over fifty books in print, award-winning author Sharon Sala, who also writes as Dinah McCall, still has to remind herself from time to time that this isn't a dream.

She learned to read at the age of four and has had her nose in a book ever since. Her introduction into romance came at an early age through the stories of Zane Gray, Grace Livingston Hill and Emily Loring. Her pride in contributing to the genre is echoed by the letters of her fans.

She's a four-time RITA finalist, Winner of the Janet Dailey Award, three-time Career Achievement winner from Romantic Times magazine, four-time winner of the National Reader's Choice Award and five-time winner of the Colorado Romance Writer's Award of Excellence, as well as numerous other industry awards.

Her books are regularly on bestseller lists, such as the New York Times extended list, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Waldenbooks mass market, and many others.

She claims that, for her, learning to read was a matter of evolution, but learning to write and then being published was a revolution. It changed her life, her world and her fate.

I keep choosing novels written by Ms Sala from back in the mid90's and yet they are really great. The story is about a couple who meet in an airport during a blizzard on New Year's Eve. Little did they know that the kiss they shared would be the start of forever together. However, it would just take awhile for them to love and trust each other enough to make it come true. I loved the emotions and tense moments that the couple share as well as the families share. Matt is the strong one, while Billie is the lost one who wants to be found in more ways than I can explain here. The heart wrenching moments that this couple spent overcoming are well worth the time to read and finish this novel. True Love is very hard to find, but once you find it don't let it go without really securing it. It really takes more than just saying "I Love You". Another character I enjoyed was the nosy next door neighbor, Daisy. She was a hoot and yet, an unexpected surprisingly strong help in the final analysis of the book. Scott, Matt's son , was also an satisfying subplot. The novel is dynamic, complicated, with some really rough family dynamics, sad but encouraging, and full of hope that Love alone can carry one from day to day. I enjoyed the story and was thoroughly entertained.

I have enjoyed reading this author for a little over ten years. I can't remember the first time I read this book but I have read it several times since. The story is a good one and an enjoyable plot to explore. I think my biggest frustration in the book is how it ended. Yes it has an HEA but the final step it took to get there seemed not trite but I'm not sure. I would reccomended this to another reader and will definitely be reading it again.

I happened upon Sharon Sala by chance last week. I purchased two of her books and loved them...so bought another...and another...and another.

I started 'Second Chances' last evening. I was so close to finishing it after work, that I sat out in my car in order to find out how these two people who loved each other so much...would finally be able to have their 'happily ever after' and I wasn't disappointed. But before that happened...I sat there in my car reading what they were going through and I cried and I laughed and I cried so more; it broke my heart what they had to endure. I haven't read a book that has touched me so deeply in a very long time. This is definitely a book I intend to read again and again.

If you love romances, you HAVE to read Sharon Sala...you won't be disappointed.

Two lonely strangers stranded at an airport on New Years Eve share a passionate, soul-stirring kiss. Their brief interlude is one that Matt Holt and Billie Jean Walker will never forget.
Two years later, Matt's son Scott arrives home from college for the summer with 3 friends in tow, and Matt is shocked to see that one of them is Billie Jean. Matt and Billie don't share with Scott and his friends that they have previously met. Although Scott has never been more than good friends with Billie, things become a bit awkward when he feels he must compete with his father for Billie's attention. Billie has a lot of baggage that neither Scott or Matt are aware of, so after a few weeks she heads home to confront her evil father Jarrod, who has emotionally abused her her entire life, and try to settle matters at hand. Months later, mentally and physically exhausted, she returns to Matt's ranch, and here's where things get really convoluted...just when I think this girl knows what she's doing and a good man when she sees it....well, you get the picture!
Having missed this book the first time around, and reading all the great reviews about it, I could hardly wait to read it. And it was good, but so, so sad....will Billie Jean ever get it right? Will she ever stop crying? Will she ever tell anyone, especially the man who loves her, the whole truth? And do men like Matt (and Scott) really exist? I doubt most have the patience, or the financial means, to do all the things Matt does for Billie, which is where the book borders on unbelievable. I love most of Sharon Sala's books, the Gambler's Daughters being some of the best I have ever read. Halfway through this book, it became too bogged down with sad emotions and tears, with too few happy pages at the end for my liking.
