- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2009WHILE READING THIS BOOK MY HEART WENT OUT TO THE CHARECTERS, I WISH THERE WAS A PART TWO. THIS BOOK JUST LET ME KNOW TRUE LOVE CAN HAPPEN BETWEEN OLD FRIENDS. I MYSELF MARRIED MY OLD FRIEND OF 17YRS. WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED 9YRS. MARRIAGE IS NOT EASY, BUT GOD, COMMUNICATION AND TRUST BUILDS A FONDATION.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2007I have been a big fan of Linda Hudson-Smith in the past, but "Forsaking All Others" left me slightly disappointed.
The story of Jessica and Weston has a great framework; their fathers have been best friends for years and have always hope that Jessica and Weston would develop a romantic interest in each other and "officially" bond their families through matrimony. Jessica and "Wes" have no interest in falling prey to their fathers' wishes.
The main problem I had with this book was that the characters and dramatic impact of the book were underdeveloped. The writing is largely descriptive and overly so at times when Hudson-Smith describes the room décor and the characters clothing in excruciating detail. That type of detail is lacking in the dialogue of the book. The story was so idealist as to lack intrigue and realism.
Built on a good premise, the book lacked something in execution. For a better representation of Hudson-Smith, I'd recommend "Sweeter than Temptation", "Tomorrow May Never Come", or "Ladies in Waiting".
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2008After reading tons of books by Beverly Jenkins, Brenda Jackson and Francis Ray, I found this book to be an utterly disappointing, unrealistic waste of my time. I only finished reading it because I *never* put a book away until I've finished it.
The characters were completely unrealistic, their relationship was rushed and illogical. The story was underdeveloped and repetitive. I found the dialogue and descriptions laughable.
I'm sorry. I won't purchase anything else by this author unless I read RAVE reviews first.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2007When Jessica and Wes unite in Aspen with their families for the holidays, neither knew they would actually start to have feelings for each other since both families had always been trying to play matchmakers and put them together.
Keeping the family away, the couple decide they will explore their feelings with the usual happy ending.
Being a fan of Linda Hudson-Smith and especially her earlier romances, I felt like I was reading for young adults because of the ages (25-27) of Jessica and Wes; although, their romantic encounters were more adult.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2007I was highly disappointed with this read. I was expecting so much more. I think the author had a great idea but the entire story line was lacking and highly underdeveloped Also, the characters were too perfect--almost unrelatable. I enjoy characters that I can relate too...and these people were just too perfect. On a scale of 1-10, this book rated a 4.
In the past, I have enjoyed Mrs. Smith's other works but this one was lackluster for me.
