Worse, he seems immune to her charms--unless she's close enough to kiss. About the author

Leanne Banks is a national #1 best-selling author with over fifty romance novels to her credit. Leanne was born and raised in the wonderful town of Roanoke, Virginia. Growing up in "the star city of the south" had a huge impact on her outlook and her writing. Her B.S. in Psychology only qualifies her to treat fictional characters and she began writing when her two children were very young. Leanne believes in the transforming power of love, so writing romance novels comes naturally to her. Her muse is a 4.5 lb Pomeranian who is happy to snooze beside Leanne while Leanne creates. Leanne loves travel and trips to the beach, but what's most important to her is family. Leanne's home on the web is www.leannebanks.com To get the most up-to-date scoop on Leanne, visit her on facebook http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/leanne.banks

- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2009STORY BRIEF:
Lori's wealthy father Harlan never married her mother. Harlan had sole custody of Lori and raised her alone. Lori felt guilty for living a life of wealth. Harlan died six months ago. Since then Lori has been giving away large amounts of money to charities, some of them seeming frivolous, for example: instead of buying $10 teddy bears for firefighters to give to rescued children, her charity provides $200 collectible teddy bears. Another charity she supports takes preschoolers to the opera for cultural arts appreciation. Lori lacks self confidence and feels better when she gives to almost any charity that approaches her. Her father's will provides for a yearly allowance until age 30 when she will receive a large distribution. In six months time she has already spent 4 years of her 6 year allowance. Her accounting firm recently assigned Jackson to help her budget and manage her funds. Lori refuses to live on a budget. Since the will gives her more money if she's married, she decides to hire someone to marry her for six years with a divorce at age 30. She wants Jackson to find candidates for her to marry. He starts bringing her candidates, but word leaks out, and a huge number of men line up outside her home offering themselves. Jackson takes Lori to a ranch for awhile to escape the men. The ranch is a charity helping handicapped children. While there Lori cooks, cleans and helps with the horses and children. Jackson helps out as a handyman.
REVIEWER'S OPINION:
Lori is frivolous and lacks good judgment, but she does have a good heart. She gains some strength and self confidence during her time on the ranch. Other characters added some interest. This story is like an ice cream sundae. Don't expect anything deep. There is a wonderfully sizzling sex scene.
DATA:
Story length: 266 pages. Swearing language: moderate. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: 6. Total number of sex scene pages: 19. Setting: current day Dallas, Texas area. Copyright: 2009. Genre: contemporary romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2016Fun easy read!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2010When I picked up Trouble in High Heels, I had no idea what I was in for! Luckily, I found it pleasantly charming, though I was a bit surprised (see previous 'disclaimers' about how I do not really like chick lit/contemps) at first. But soon I was chuckling and smirking as I read the witty banter and story between Lori and Jackson.
Much like Jackson soon finds out after meeting Lori, she's not like your stereotypical 'blonde' heiress, spending daddy's money left and right on silly and frivolous things. No, Lori was much different. She had a backbone, she wasn't an airhead like he originally feared, and she hides a secret from her past that she's afraid will make her look weak if it ever came out...
Jackson, on the other hand, was a surprise as well. His past was anything but perfect, and he worked hard to get where he is today. And although being a CPA isn't usually the job I want my dream man to have (I'd much rather have one in some type of secret military service or hunting demons for a living, but hey, that's just me!), if the guy was built like Jackson, along with his personality, I could easily change my mind. (Damn, who would have known that a life of crunching numbers would lead to shoulders like that?! )
And though she played a minor part in this story, appearing only through letters written to Lori, Sunny Collins (Lori's now deceased mother) offers some wicked, humorous, and very true advice, sure to entertain the reader just as much as the rest of the story!
Trouble in High Heels is a quick, fast-paced read, sure to brighten any reader's day. With just the right amount of witty humor, smart comments, romance, and even a few fairly steamy scenes, you'll find it hard to put the book down or get bored!
Here was one of the quotes from the book that I liked:
Dogs are generally more devoted than men are.
~The wicked and wise Sunny Collins
4/5 STARS! Warm, charming, and brisk, Trouble in High Heels is a great weekend read, perfect for the beach or any other place you choose. Sit down, put your feet up, and enjoy this enganging contemporary!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice reading.
Nice plot, strong characters, love all around. Once I have started it I had to finish it. Nothing better than to curl up in bed with this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing
This is my first time reading a book by this author and she didn't disappoint. I was expecting it to be funnier than it was but I did get a few laughs here and there. I feel like Brandi was quite a relatable character (especially since I have a broken engagement under my belt!) and I like that she becomes quite ballsy and decides not to be a doormat. All in all a good read. Oh, and I think all men should live by the motto 'do what you gotta do to win the girl back'
