4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 185 ratings

A shocking family secret sends a spinster out of her home—and into the arms of an unlikely Duke—in this sizzling Regency romance.

Raised as the youngest daughter of the Duke of Kendal, Elizabeth learns a devastating truth on his deathbed: he wasn't her father at all. And because the Duke had no sons, his title and fortune must go to his only male heir: a distant cousin who left England for America long ago. Anticipating the man's imminent occupation of her home, Elizabeth anxiously searches for her mother's diary, and the secret of her paternity . . .

William Atherton has no desire to leave his Virginia farm, or his fiancée. Arriving in London with his seven siblings, he intends to sell Kendal House and return home. But as Elizabeth shows William an England he never knew, and introduces his siblings to London society, it becomes clear that these two are meant for each other. Soon, Elizabeth is determined to seduce the man who can save her family name—and her heart.

I love Christie Kelley, she writes some of the best historical romances. Something Scandalous was a very fun book to read, she had me laughing at some parts and wanting to cry at others. The sex scenes were well written and detailed, I personally like my books like this so if you prefer something a little more tame I would not suggest this book for you. This book is part of a series that you can read out of order, however, I would try to read them in order because characters in previous books make appearances throughout. This is the third book in the series and the third book I have read by Christie Kelley and I have loved everyone of them, I finished each book in two days and get started on the next one right away, they are that yummy! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for romance, sex and edge of your seat reading. Enjoy!

One of the best read I have ever read. The end was awesome and unpredictable. In all the years I've read historical romance this was the first to have a different story line. I didn't see it coming. Very good story.

I find Me. Kelly's books very entertaining. There is enough detail to keep you on your toes but not so much that the story becomes confusing. The erotica is just enough. Good read!

This is an ok read, not enough intrigue to keep it more interesting. It's not something I would read again.

Elizabeth needs a home and even though she’s a duke’s daughter, she does not know who her real father is. Will is hesitant to forgo living in America to accept his responsibilities as the new duke. The unlikely pair have immediate chemistry, but complications keep them apart.

As this is a book in a series I think it's worth reading to get to know all of the key characters of The Spinster Club. However, this wasn't my favorite of the series. There is plenty of action and some really great characters and the author's overall storytelling is rich.
