Kathleen Handal, MD is a nationally and internationally known emergency medicine "Doc". She authored "The American Red Cross First Aid & Safety Handbook" which was written for the lay audience.

Doc believes physicians have a responsibility to teach and share medical common sense. Her website, www.DocHandal.com, serves as a base for her many consumer education endeavors and her blog. Along with providing information on her books and videos, her website offers articles and quizzes for adults and children that are aimed at fine-tuning their medical common sense. "Acting on and living in sync with our bodies can result in so many more benefits throughout life. Ideally, we incorporate health knowledge about our changing bodies as we age so by adulthood we have a solid foundation of information and keen medical common sense."

Her iTunes channel -"DocHandal Speaks! Listen Up" - promotes medical common sense through free podcasts. A frequent host and co-host on talk-radio health shows, she has also appeared on CNN and the Today Show. Her "Medical Emergencies in the Workplace" video won a bronze medal in the International Cindy Competition and was a Telly Award finalist. She has co-authored a series of medical textbooks. In 2020 she co-authored several journal articles on EMS and COVID-19*. She is an expert for 'Sharecare', an health information website.

As part of her dedication to public education, she wrote, directed, and produced "Trauma Run", a nationally distributed video for grades 2-6. The video, produced in Spanish and English, teaches children how to respond to a medical emergency when no adults are available.

"Doc's First Aid Guide", an easy to read and use guide to making a difference, and is available in Spanish and French in e-format. You can also obtain the print version of these and all her books. In "Your ER Survival Guide" she gives valuable insight into how an emergency room operates, so you'll know how to get the best care possible. It's like having Doc Handal at your side when you need her the most.

She has authored and co-authored numerous articles, the most recent were addressing the COVID-19 pandemic: 'Paramedicine Strategic Planning' & 'The Ethics of PPE and EMS in the COVID-19 Era' (jems.com - 5/14, 4/10/2020). 'An Opportunity to Improve Emergency Medical Services Response and Safety',(JEMS. June 10, 2022).

El libro de primeros auxilios de la Dra. Handal lo recomiendo porque es muy práctico, fácil de llevarlo contigo a todas partes y también muy fácil de leerlo y comprensivo. Sirve de gran ayuda para cualquier persona en cualquier lugar.

Existen guuias más completas que esta, y que van desde curar un simple corte a complicaciones cardiacas y partos. De todos modos, cuesta leer esta guia por no estar revisadas su traduccion.
