Lucy was pretty unique. She works teaching people how to fly fish and is a guide for camping trips. But when somebody breaks into her house one night, she's terrified. Detective Eli Hawkins comes to her rescue. He's on a secret case trying to track down a seriel killer.
The suspense:
There's several twists that keep you guessing. I was able to figure out who it was from the very beginning, but couldn't figure out the why or how. The author throws in a few twists that caused me to back up and wonder if I was wrong.
The romance:
It was your typical "I have feelings for her but I can't act on them" story. The romance was sweet, and combined with the suspense made for a great book.

Review:
Fly fishing instructor, Lucy Kimbol is the kind of girl who has had to be tough, so it doesn't come easy for her to lean on the strength Detective Eli Hawkins offers, especially when he seems to arrogantly force his way into her life. Little does she know that he's trying to protect her from a serial killer. Can Lucy move past her distrust of the local law enforcement and allow Eli into her heart?
The story is set with beautiful Washington as the backdrop. A fly fishing instructor as the heroine is a first for me, but it totally works. There were a few occasions where I had to suspend belief. If I told you, then I'd have to. . . well, I don't want to give any of the turning points away.
What I did like was the fact that the heroine was a `flawed' Christian. What I mean by that is she had faith in God but she wasn't all put together in a perfect little package. It is when she realizes that she's harboring unforgiveness that she is able to open her heart to the possibilities of trust and ultimately love.
All in all, Dead Ringer was a good read, very suspenseful. I was immediately drawn into the story and couldn't put it down. Although I wasn't surprised at the revelation of the villain's identity, I had been left wondering from the beginning who, from the list of possible suspects, was the real killer.

Detective Eli Hawkins is new to the small town, transferred over to help solve a string of serial killers. He is shocked to discover that Lucy is a dead ringer to the other girls that were murdered. And she's a member of the on-line dating service that the killer frequents.
Determined to keep Lucy from being the next target, Eli rents the duplex next door to her, while stalking her when she goes on dates. But Lucy is reluctant to believe Eli's warnings. Winning her trust is the only way to keep her safe--if he isn't already too late.
DEAD RINGER is the most recent book by mystery writer, Sharon Dunn. I guess who the killer might be early on, but it still didn't distract from a good read. I enjoyed getting to know suspicious, reserved Lucy, and kind considerate Eli.
If you are looking for a good romantic suspense, then DEAD RINGER would be a book to consider. Available at [...], or at www.amazon.com. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book.
As all relationships go, Eli had a hard time gaining Lucy's trust. Then he becomes very protective of her to the point he almost turns her away.
Everyone is looking for the serial killer on an online dating service. They are completely off track. Then Lucy shares why the police and her are not friends and they look again in the wrong direction. Eli finally makes the connection as to who the killer is but is almost too late.
Part way near the end I began to feel it wasn't who they were looking at. I was right. It was someone who seemed so trusting and was so close to Lucy, it was scary. I will that as a surprise for you to find out.
A very well written book. A mystery to the very end.
