Emilie Gill struck me as a study in opposites. She was warm and cold; strong and weak; needy and independent...she felt like a combination of the me I show the world and the me I keep hidden--you too, I'd imagine.
The love story was surprising. Usually, I expect the woman to be the spiritual one trying to win the man over to Christ. Not so in Emilie's case. She's the one who needs to find truth and Derrick, the handsome groom, is eager to lead her there. The suspense thread is scary and maddening. I can't stand not knowing things. LOL I really, really wanted to find out what happened--that's why I called it a page-turner and it also proves how invested I was in the characters.
I highly recommend this book.
The police immediately accuse Emilie and arrest her for Camillo's murder. Emilie is grieving over her dear friend's death and wants somebody to help her find the truth. Derrick is the only one who will. But can she keep her heart safe while finding the truth?
Derick is a Christian and is very attracted to Emilie. He knows that he cannot get involved with her since she is not a believer.
The romance is only luke-warm in this book. The suspense is interesting - kept me guessing, though I had some correct suspicions from the beginning - and some incorrect. Though the story was pretty predictable, it was interesting to read how it all played out.
