Winnie is a refreshing character and so is Morgan. He's very down to earth and not over impressed with himself. He doesn't judge Winnie or anyone else by superficial standards. He's a man, she's a woman.... His friend. And those standards that Winnie holds herself to and finds herself lacking... Morgan doesn't. She's no different than the model he dated before- except Winnie is lush, real, unguarded...
Morgan is shut down in the feeling department but not a jerk to Winnie. He appreciates their friendship, respects her, and is looking forward to marrying her and settling down to an " ordinary life." He thinks marrying ordinary Winnie will make him less interesting to the press and get them off his back. At first Winnie can't believe her dream is coming true, a chance to marry the man of her dreams. But the reality of being with the love of your life, knowing its only friendship and convenience for him, is not as palatable as she thought. She bolts at the doors of the chapel overcome with panic at settling for a hum drum marriage- when she's never had a date, never been kissed...she couldn't close door to the hopes of a romance in her life. Morgan pursues her and with great honor, care, and yummy manliness takes care of her even though... He's a great hero. He has feelings of hurt but doesn't turn bitter. He seduces her and realizes what a sexy find she is.
Their romance is great. Enjoy!
The basic plot-line has already been given by another reviewer, and I really hate to give too much of the storyline away, because I wouldn't want to ruin the enjoyment for you. So, I'll try to use generalities to convey why I think this book is worth buying:
First of all, the main characters aren't always fighting--wow, imagine that! I really loved that, and it is much more realistic to how life actually is when we fall in love with someone. I loved the female heroine, she was amusing and endearing, and wonderfully flawed as we all are. The hero was drop-dead gorgeous, but intrigued by Winnie and was kind to her, even when he had reasons not to be. Nice!
They each had issues to work through before they could learn to trust their feelings for each other, which is also true to life. I respected Winnie because she stayed true to herself and didn't compromise on certain issues important to her, so the hero Morgan had to get with the program. Yeah, baby!
I really loved this book, and it is on my "Keeper Shelf" to read again one day.
Tip: try buying a used book, especially via zShops, where the S&H is cheaper than on Amazon Marketplace and you can often combine shipping on multiple orders. I'm saving a bundle this way. I compare my book choice prices between ebay, zShops & regular Amazon Markeplace, to find the best prices. Watch those S&H charges, they can bite you where it hurts if you aren't careful! You can often find better prices on eHarlequin.com, but only on the more current titles.
Happy Reading!
I loved this book. I found myself being pulled into the story and felt like I was one of the characters. What I really liked about this book is that the main characters weren't royalty. Many romance novels have Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses. This book didn't and I found that I enjoyed that more. You could relate to them more than the royals. I would definitely recommend this book. It's a great read from beginning to end and one that you will have a hard time putting down.
Very good read.
I am definitely going to be looking for more Jane Porter books.
