Lemony Collard Peach Treat

3 large collard leaves, including stems
1 cup water
½ cup ice
2 peaches
1 banana, frozen in chunks
¼ whole lemon (including peel)
½ tsp. stevia

Blend first two ingredients on high for 2 minutes in BlendTec, add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve with a mint sprig.

Spinach Raspberry Medley

2 large handfuls spinach
1 cup water
½ cup ice
1 Tbsp. agave nectar
1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 banana, frozen in chunks

Blend spinach and ice until smooth in BlendTec, add other ingredients and blend 60 seconds. Serve in tall glasses with straws.

Kale Concoction

3 large stalks of green or black (Lacinato) kale
1 cup water
2 pears
1” of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1 cup water
1 banana, frozen in chunks
½ tsp. stevia

Blend kale and water in BlendTec until smooth, then add other ingredients and blend 90 seconds more.

Tropismoothie

1 large handful spinach
1 large handful arugula
1 large handful leafy lettuce (romaine, green or red lettuce, anything but iceberg)
1 cup water
1 cup fresh pineapple, coarsely chopped
1 cup papaya
1 banana, frozen in chunks
1 Tbsp. honey
½ cup ice

Blend first four ingredients in BlendTec until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve in frosted glasses.

Super-Antioxidant Chocolate Shake

1 large handful spinach or kale
1 cup coconut liquid (fresh or canned)
2 Tbsp. raw chocolate powder
1 cup ice
1 stalk celery, coarsely chopped
1 banana, frozen in chunks
¼ cup raw or roasted almond butter (or organic peanut butter)
¼ cup dried goji berries, soaked 1 hr. and drained (optional)
2 Tbsp. agave nectar

Blend all ingredients 2 minutes in BlendTec, adding extra ice for more shake-like consistency if necessary, and serve immediately with straws.

This book is fabulous! I don't know what people are talking about, saying that it's nothing but a BlendTec infomercial. She only mentions very briefly about the BlendTec blender and also mentions Vitamix. I can understand why Robyn recommends one of these blenders. If you have ever tried to make a real green smoothie in a less than ideal blender, you will see what I mean. I have done a lot of research, but just using a cheap ninja or oster is not going to cut it for long. I know because I have been there and done that. I have actually gone through 4 blenders/processors until finally coming to the realization that I needed to quit wasting money and invest once and for all in a proper kitchen tool. If I had just did this to begin with I would have actually saved money.

But back to the book. It's very informative as to why green smoothies are beneficial, which greens are best and why, and how to go about implementing them into your family and life. There is even information on how to start growing your own greens so you can save money and have better nutrition. There are plenty of recipes and a 3 day green fast detox and also a 30 day detox fat burner cleanse. Both are very simple and easy to implement.

I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to regain their health! Robyn is wonderful and a delight to read. I have been a GreenSmoothieGirl.com blog reader for years and even with all the information she has there....this just adds another dimension to my understanding of how and why I and my whole family need to be doing this. I am proof that the green smoothies can improve your digestion, your energy and your weight along with so much more. I have even begun to notice a few gray hairs that have turned back to my dark brown. This is my 3rd month of doing the smoothies. But I have also begun removing meats and dairy. I can't even begin to tell you the health improvements. I have been an avid "You need lots of meat/dairy to get enough protein" person for years. So I was very skeptical. But nothing was helping my health and I was continuing to get worse despite being what I thought was healthy. Boy was I wrong. I am very thankful to Robyn for all the information she makes available. She really helps you to understand why this works. And what could be simpler than to add a quart of green smoothie a day? It's such a simple addition that can have far reaching effects. When you begin to feel better, it will give you that push to make further changes.

After my recent introduction to the world of green smoothies, I wanted to find a collection of tasty green smoothie recipes. I was a bit surprised when the book arrived and it only devoted the last chapter to actual green smoothie recipes. Trying to have an open mind, I started reading the first chapters in which the author reveals the story behind her devotion to a whole foods lifestyle. Her testimonial regarding the benefits of eating a plant-based diet is simply amazing, and I soon found myself glued to the remainder of the book and incredibly motivated to forever change the way I and my family eat.

Much evidence is offered regarding why a plant-based diet is ideal, and the author presents green smoothies as a delicious and easy way for anyone to improve their eating habits. The remainder of the book provides the juicy details on green smoothies:
Which greens to eat, growing your own greens, buying/storing greens and fruit, super foods to add to your smoothies, how to make green smoothies, and green smoothie recipes.

The book ends with page after page of inspiring stories from people who have reaped the benefits of green smoothies: increased energy, decreased cravings for sugary processed foods, greater endurance, healed ailments, and the list goes on.

For me, this was a life-changing book, convincing me to at least incorporate a daily green smoothie and hopefully to greatly decrease my family's consumption of processed foods, dairy, and meat (though the film "Food,Inc" helped with this as well!). The "green smoothie diet" is not an all-or-nothing approach. The author makes it clear that changing any of our poor eating habits is a step in the right direction, but with the immense positive effects from a green smoothie lifestyle, it's pretty easy to have motivation to make some impressive changes!

Overall, while I initially sought a book chocked full of green smoothie recipes, I gained incredible insight into the reasons for drinking green smoothies in the first place. The author provides such a wonderful understanding of green smoothie basics that I find myself not even needing the recipes but instead fully confident to experiment with my own smoothie creations.

I have only just got this book and am hooked already. I flirted briefly with juicing some time ago - have the juicer in the cupboard still! Love juices, hate the hassle. Have been blending (with a very cheap blender) for a week just from hints I picked up online, and I am staggered at how good I feel already. Am halfway through the book and it is extraordinary - it is obvious that this system of introducing solid nutrition into your diet very easily is a winner. Even if all I get out of it is this feeling of wellbeing, it will be well worth blending my breakfast for the rest of my days. Thank you Robyn, I really appreciate your sharing. I heartily recommend this book to everyone who would like to improve the way they feel, and, I've no doubt, improve their health as well.

Out of all the books on raw food that I have read I have found this onee to be one of the most sensible ones. The fact that is short and to the point is also a big plus.
