A Question of Intent (To Protect and Defend Book 1255) Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 11 ratings

U.S. Army Major Jill Bradshaw was used to giving orders, not taking them--so when she met brusque Commander Cody Richardson, the medical officer in charge of her top secret mission, she was a little taken aback. Of course she was also taken with him--a problem, because despite his sterling credentials, she wasn't exactly sure who he was. Or where he came from...

Cody had always maintained military and medical protocol at all costs, and he wasn't about to stop now--which meant a hands-off policy as far as a certain lovely army major was concerned. But it was all for the best, Cody told himself. He had secrets to keep--and they were best kept at a distance.
She was best kept at a distance....

As a military brat I lived in France and Newfoundland, both of which I loved, and at least half of the fifty states. As a U.S. Air Force officer, I served tours in Taiwan, Vietnam, the Pentagon, and the rest of the fifty states. Now I'm having a blast putting all those adventures into my books.

I love investigating other times and places, so I switch between writing contemporary thrillers, romantic suspense and historical novels. Many of my books have been set in the U.K., including my very first historical, ALENA, which came about after a visit to Hadrian's Wall and other Roman sites. 90+ books later, I'm still having a fantastic time researching and writing stories filled with romance and adventure.

I hope you enjoy some of my books and wish you many happy hours of reading!

Top review from the United States

Another great book by Merline Lovelace. The solution to the mystery is unexpected and probable. The relationship between the two main characters is intense but they maintain their professionalism during on-duty times. I just wish that this book was one of Ms. Lovelace's longer books. Her plots and characters are wasted on these short stories. My one complaint, which I have written to Ms. Lovelace about, is that khaki uniforms don't have shoulder boards on them. Rank is designated on the khaki uniform by collar devices. My spouse is in the Navy and this one wrong detail stood out to me.
