I can recommend this book as another winner.
really enjoy Marie Ferrarella's books, anything by her is a good read
Stand alone read. 5th in Cavanaugh Justice series of 29 books.
EASY READ. Nicely written, cute storyline, good descriptive imagery, likable characters, great secondary cast, strong family theme, and dual romances, a sizzling fantasy romance and the recovery of a lost love. HOWEVER, the storyline lacks any suspense, the hot romance is lust-driven and rushed, and the rediscovered love, while sweet, is very contrived. These issues detract slightly from the storyline.
THE STORY throws together Detective Shaw Cavanaugh, and stunningly beautiful movie actress, Moira McCormick. Moira has been cast as a vice cop in her next action film and wants to experience the job first hand by shadowing a “real” hard-nosed Vice and Narcotics detective. To meet her request, Moira is assigned to ride-along with Shaw “No-way-I’m-getting-stuck-babysitting-a-movie-star” Cavanaugh, for a week. But Shaw quickly learns Moira is not just good looks and style. She is smart, down-to-earth, gutsy, and cares deeply for others, and a feisty, complicated, romance develops (bpl).
OVERALL, a fun fantasy storyline, with more lust than romance. CAVANAUGH JUSTICE is a series of 29 books, starting with Racing Against Time (2003).
You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, and E. Palfrey. For good mystery/detective writers you might try J. D. Robb, D. Stabenow, S. Grafton, S. Sala, Gayle Wilson, and Julie Miller.
