3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 23 ratings

Spicy Vampire Humor/Satire

Zara is a very naughty vampire. She lusts for both sex and blood. Unfortunately, something has gone awry and her normal habits now create new problems to solve. In the midst of sorting things out, she meets an intriguing human named Niven -- a musician who lives in the magical kingdom of contemporary Boulder, CO -- and discovers that he is much more than he appears to be. Then, if things weren't interesting enough, Zara encounters her old mentor/lover -- the vampire who originally turned her -- and things get downright supernatural.

Plot/Story/Characters: 4 Stars

This story reads not like a diary, but more like a one-sided directed conversation. Zara speaks directly to the reader throughout this short story. I realize Zara's supposed to be narcissistic, and she definately IS. She even goes so far as to describe herself physically in the third person. "You will note that she has the much desired hourglass figure, and her large, firm breasts always make a wonderful first impression." I did like how the story ended, and Zara "got back" at her maker.

Writing Style: 4 Stars

A stream-of-consciousness journal, as Ms. Hilburn has Zara describe the story, is an extremely accurate description of what is found in this story. There were a few too many commas sprinkled through the story, but if you read the story as if Zara is talking to you then I suppose there are commas wherever she would take a breath.

This book was sent to me from my sister. Given to me as a gift. I would recommend and I enjoy reading vampire novels.

A much too short romp through the eyes go a very self-centered vampire. Great twist at the end. Enyoyable read. Would have given 4 stars but didn't because it ended so quickly and left me wanting more.

The attitude of the main character is excellent. It's a little hard to accept, but she is essentially an egomaniac. Like other readers, I'm sure, I was left wanting more. If I see Part 2 pop up in a few months (or even tomorrow) I would definitely pay to read more. Great read!

Fun Fun Fun it was a good book. That's it. I don't like being forced to use a certain amount of words.

I read this book and I loved it. It was the first book I bought for my Kindle and I don't regret it. I can't wait till she comes out with a new book.

I enjoyed this a lot, but it was shorter than I expected. The Author has a pacey, entertaining style which keeps the story moving briskly on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story and very funny

A great fun story told by a very hip and worldly wise gorgeous female vampire. Great snappy dialogue and great situations. Her problem though is that she can't have both sex and suck the blood of her handsome male conquests as otherwise they became brain dead, something she finds really, really frustrating as she loves both and she wants to carry on enjoying both the sex and the blood. Her life though takes a new turn when an ancient vampire lover of hers returns. A good read. The story looks like it will continue in the future so I look forward to reading further installments of her adventures.
