- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2010Judd Harwood is a business mogul in Montreal Canada who has a young daughter Emmy. One day he is on a business trip when there is a fire at his mansion. Emmy gets out thanks to the heroics of a fire fighter whose life was risked trying to save Emmy
Judd wants to thank the person who saved his daughter, and thinks he got in the wrong room when he sees a woman with red hair laying on a bed. He did not, but something about her seems familiar. He looks at her chart and realizes why, she is his ex-wifes cousin Lise.
Lise does not like Judd, but cannot forget that when she was a teenager she had a huge crush on her cousins husband.
Several days after the fire Judd comes to visit Lise. Emmy had been having nightmares about the fire and was wondering if she could come to talk to Emmy. Lise does this and helps Emmy by showing her the firefighting gear.
Several days later Judd and Emmy are set to go on a vacation and Judd wants Lise to go with them. At first Lise does not want to go, but she sees a green dress that Judd bought and decides to go. During the trip the chemistry between Judd and Lise intensifies and the last night on the island Lise and Judd end up making love.
They return to Montreal and Judd convinces Lise to become Emmy's nanny. The night before Lise is set to move into the Harwood mansion she realizes that she is late and that she could be pregnant. Over the next several weeks she tries to hide her condition from Judd and Emmy. Then things get more interesting when Angeline (Lise's cousin/Emmy's mom) comes back to Montreal with the intention of getting Judd back.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2014I am giving this book 2 and 1/2 stars after my first read. I will save and read it again and maybe I can up the stars given. I usually enjoy this storyline but this one had too much angst between the H and h. It does have a hea but the constant turmoil between the lovers almost to the very end of the book was annoying! I almost stopped reading it half way through. The hero is a divorced father who's little girl was saved from a fire by the heroine who is a firefighter. The firefighters cousin use to be married to the hero, so they do know each other as they figure this out at the hospital. Heroine ends up resigning her position as a firefighter because she can't handle the stress of the job anymore and becomes the nanny for H 's daughter. This is another thing that bugs me, the relationship between the h and daughter is virtually nonexistent until the end of the book . It does not show their relationship building until the very end of the book. I will give the author another try, but this book could have been better. If you like constant angst with a little sex thrown in then this is a good book for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2023I'm going back to the old books that I've read a long time ago. I am enjoying them a lot and they are so entertaining. Times change over the years, go back and read some old books. Enjoy
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2021A decent book. A little back and forth between the main characters but ended well. Glad it all worked out for a happy ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2015An unsual HP setting where h is a firewoman and rescued Hero'a only child. The opening pages grabbed my interest in setting up the inevitable attraction that Judd will develop for Lise. I loved that she is a strong person but has insecurities and falls into habitual role when with her dreadful aunt. Some good angst, esp when shallow ex-wife comes back into the scenes. A steady read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2015This was a sweet story. He saw her, wanted her, and was willing to do anything to get her. She is feisty and his equal. I rated it a "10!", which in my rating system is one notch above a 10.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2010Judd Harwood wants to thank the firefighter that saved his young daughter in a house fire at his home. He had been away on business. He is directed to the room of Lise Charbonneau, the cousin of his ex-wife. Judd immediately feels an attraction for the young Lise as well as a bit of a protective/jealous nature. He hunts her down and begins his campaign to win her over.
This was a nice change. Instead of the H having preconceived notions and ideas about the h, it is the other way around. Lise believes that Judd had cheated on her cousin Angeline. Which is kind of stupid of her to believe anyways because both her aunt and her cousin seem selfish and self absorbed. They never seemed to care about Lise, unless it got them something and in fact that aunt had commented when Lise was younger that it was a shame that she would never be a beauty like Angeline. But of course Lise believes Angeline until she gets to know Judd whom she had a crush on when she was thirteen and he was marrying her cousin.
This was a nice, sweet love story with a believable HEA.
