Journey to Forever Kindle Edition
That was how long privileged fledgling journalist Nikki Post had to deal with notorious radio personality Colin Wright and the staff on his eight-day fund-raising trek from New Mexico to Wyoming.
Yet instead of the immature prankster she'd been warned to expect, Colin was generous and handsomewith a smile that reached the depths of Nikki's soul. As the days counted down, he helped her write the article for her grandfather's newspaperand a kiss shortened the distance between them.
But when trouble threatened to bring the trip to a premature end, would Nikki's role in Colin's life end, as well...or continue forever?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2011The description on the back of the book didn't exactly grab me, nor did the reviews I read, but I decided since this was the next book in my big, big stack I would go ahead and "get it over with." Boy, was I surprised!!!
Both characters had issues. Nikki's issue was that she was rich and had been used by men in the past who just wanted her for her money. She just wanted to be normal, and hid who she really was. Collin had dated women with money before and din't like his impression of them. In fact, his opinion on the rich was quite biased due to bitterness...
Then Nikki sits on his lap during an important meeting. Then he dumps barbque ribs all over the front of her. That's when it started...
I didn't figure I would enjoy this book, but was surprised that I did. The book didn't concentrate a whole lot on the race itself. More so, it concentrated on the pre-race, then their conversations during the race. I thought the book was quite creative and original...I mean, it's not every day you hear about two adults riding down I-70 on tricycles, is it? And it's not everyday you read about...oh, that would be giving something away! You'll just have to read it instead!
One reviewer stated this book was too preachy. I didn't really read any sermons in it. The man talked openly about his faith, and there were issues about that. But this is a Love Inspired book written for Christians so that was not surprised. I've read a lot of books that were a lot more preachy.
I also got a bit confused int he restaurant scene. Did I miss her conversion experience? She announced to Collin she wanted to get to know God better, then she was suddenly a born-again Christian, but when exactly did the conversion experience take place?
Anyway, this was a pleasantly surprisingly good read!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2010This book is a sweet romance that ends happy. That isn't a spoiler -- happy endings are why people read romances. I liked the plot and the characters. The plot twists were believable and I found myself reading the book instead of doing other things I needed to do.
However, I found the book preachy and that irritated me. It is one thing to write a romance that shows individuals living their faith. It is another to actively proselytize with long sections of dialogue that are more sermon than anything. I think that makes it difficult for those who are not committed to the same viewpoint to read the book. It is essentially preaching to the choir. The author would reach more people with her message if she was less overt about pushing it.
I give this book a B minus. A nice read if you can take the evangelical Christianity.
FCC Disclosure: I was given a copy of this book to review. I received no further compensation and the opinions expressed are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2008This book is okay. It is not one of those books that will keep you turning the pages late at night, but it's acceptable. I have read plenty of other love inspired books that were more interesting.
