"Second Marriage" was a bit painful to read but also a delight because you just knew the characters involved would find a way to be together. I finished it in one day because I couldn't put it down. In fact when I did finish, I was sad because I wanted it to go on, until they married and had spent the night together. It was an up and down fight for Claire to make Romano believe they could love one another after the brutal marriage he had been through three years earlier. His childhood was hellish and adding the terrible wife he had made him think he could not trust himself to love another woman. I say Claire had her hands full with this man but the way the author describes him as all authors describe Italian men, he was a man to fight for. I don't blame her, he was a described as a beautiful man. If you have any imagination at all when reading these books, you can almost visualize these characters in your mind as you read, at least I can. This was a beautiful story and I highly recommend reading this one but first read "Husband By Contract" by the same author as it lays the ground work for all the people in this book. It was neatly tied together and they were both 5 star readings.

This is a book about second chances. He had been married to another who was not as she seemed. After reading the book before this one I understood the reasons. She was as recovering from not only an accident but the break up with her fiance. He had image issues. She was no longer perfect. They were introduced by mutual friends. He has issues of trust. Of any good looking females. She has become to think of being alone after her ex. What happens next is the rest of the story. Glad to see both get their own happy ending.

This is the second of a two part series and I loved it just as much as the first one. The chemistry between the main characters is hot, the dialogue is great and the storyline is interesting and believable. I enjoy this author's writing style. This is another keeper for me.

Helen Brooks has written a great story. The H and h are both damaged in spirit due to past experiences. They fight against the feelings that arise but somehow find peace and love.
  • Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2015
The plot for this story was so boring, not even sure the main characters even knew what they wanted. Both were selfish, immature and unsure of the unrealistic approach to a relationship and I really cannot see how the author plan on them having a happy ending. Wasted my money on this one. These books written today have no substance, no story line or any type of interaction with the characters. They all come off entitled, uninterested to read and just bad story lines.
