Lair of the Dragon Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 28 ratings

Falling for him…

When Naomi's journalist sister asked her to infiltrate The Lair of the Dragon, Bran Llewellyn's private retreat, Naomi felt she couldn't refuse.

But she hated the deception! She had to pose as Bran's new secretary, and soon discovered that the man, who was such an intriguing mystery to the newspapers, had been temporarily blinded in an accident. Worse, working so closely together meant that there was an undeniable attraction between them.

Naomi's conscience told her that she couldn't keep her secret for much longer. And common sense chided that Bran's sight would eventually be restored. But if she revealed her deceit… She hadn't realized how easily she had fallen in love with Bran!

I'd passed on this book many times because a deceitful betrayal is not my preferred storyline, but since it's on sale, I got it for the mangaka, Jinko Soma's sake. I was relieved that the cruel words & actions I'd dreaded from the hero when the truth came out did not happen. The story was more romantic than expected; a good read.

Wow, this is such a misleading title but you'll understand once you read it. Both hero and shero/heroine are sweet and generous people. The only antagonism is the flaws they feel they both have and what the heroine's sibling put her to do by subtle manipulation. This was a nice and quiet drama and loved that it took place in Wales! Good cozy read!

This story couldn't have been more beautiful or more intriguing. I felt like I was a part of the story; I got sucked right in.

I like Catherine George's stories. This was not one of my favorites though. The premise is good. Naomi takes up a job documenting the artist Bran's memoirs under false pretences. She is there to get a story for her journalist sister. But through the few weeks she is there she falls for the temporarily blind artist. He does too. Alas! He finds out the truth in a less than pleasant way and misunderstandings follow. The path to true love is never smooth right?
What made this book a real drag for me is that the author just goes on and on and on about Bran's blindness. It would have been nice to be allowed to forget about it in instances and have a more free interaction between the two characters. the constant pushing of the characters into situations rhat needed them to deal with this situation made the flow seem forced and a bit jarring. And then there is the time element. They meet and fall in love all within a few weeks, all when Bran is recuperating, rehabilitating and nursing a broken heart. Seemed far-fetched.
Otherwise an okay read.

There were times when I felt nervous because of what she had to do to please her sister, but it also had some happy parts. This is a very simple book. It is OK.
