Moving in Rhythm Kindle Edition
Mark Apostolos should be able to have any man he wants. Handsome and smart, he’s also cripplingly shy, especially around attractive men. Tired of waking up alone, he’s desperate to conquer his insecurities and have a real, meaningful relationship.
Opportunity awaits when Mark tags along to his sister-in-law’s dance class and lays eyes on the sexy instructor. Seth Miller has a way of moving that takes his breath away. It isn’t long before sparks fly and they share a steamy kiss, but Seth wants much more than just a casual encounter.
If Mark wants a real relationship with Seth he’ll have to come to terms with his sexuality—but will it be enough to break through the walls he’s built up around his heart?

- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2013I had this book as a sample for a while, glad I finally got it and read it, I really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting, with very likable characters. I instantly fell for Mark, a big muscular man, that moves in to look after his very pregnant sister-in-law after his brother is deployed overseas. I found him very sweet. His anxiety issues make it hard to talk to certain people, mainly men he finds attractive. He meets Seth at the local gym, and finds himself very attracted, but very hard to talk to him. Seth is confident, laid back and determined to get to know Mark, and after learning of Marks anxiety, he quickly embraces Marks needs. I really liked the pace the two took to get through Marks nervousness to talk to Seth. Starting with emailing, they move to phone calls once Mark is comfortable, then eventually start meeting at the local dog park with their dogs. I think that's the part I really liked, they met at the park, but Seth kept his distance. They talked on the phone, but where they still could see each other. Seth was very sweet with his ways of making Mark comfortable.
I really recommend this book, very enjoyable! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down! :)
If there was one draw back, I wish there was an epilogue or a few more chapters. I felt there should be more. There were issues that I felt needed closure. The book works the way it is, but I just found myself wanting more.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2012I really enjoyed this novel. Mostly because I adored the main character, Mark, from the very first page.
I liked the love interest, Seth, too. It was obvious he was a kind, patient, and all-round lovely guy, but the real heart of the story was Mark and his battle against his social anxiety. I found this incredibly touching.
So, Mark is crippled by anxiety and shyness - especially around hot men. He usually manages well enough one on one (with people he isn't violently attracted to) but groups and crowds cause him to have panic attacks. To avoid this, he has basically stripped his life to the minimum of social interaction: he lives alone, works as an online university professor, and spends his spare-time working out and running with his dog. His lonely but safe life is gatecrashed when his brother, a doctor with the army, is called up and asks Mark to come and look after his heavily pregnant wife for him.
He does so, and taking his duties seriously, accompanies her to a dance class at the local gym. And there he meets Seth, the dance teacher. The rest is a very sweet, slow romance as Mark begins to open up and trust Seth. There are misunderstandings and stumbles, but throughout it Mark grows so much, coming out to friends and family and finally allowing someone to get close to him for the first time.
I wish the story had been longer, with a chance to see Mark and Seth a little further along into their relationship. And I wish we'd got to know Seth better, but given the very close focus on Mark and his development this distance was understandable.
Overall, this was a wonderfully romantic story with a couple of great, loveable heroes and a cast of well-developed secondary characters, that left me with a warm glow and an urge to read the book again.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2012this book was a sweet little thing and Seth is a patient men and I cant help thinking that each man had the other man's dog equivalent. Mark was annoying at time just because he hid behind his brother far too much but it did draw me in and I did find myself rooting for Mark to just get over himself. This really did just amble along, it was more of an observation piece and if you look at it like that it is a very beautiful one. I was a little disappointed in the end with it's implication that all Marks issues were solved when he was true to himself but I just may have read that wrong so I wont hold that against it well not much anyway!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2024Mark and Seth’s story was lovely. Mark is sensitive, sexy, shy and loyal. Seth was compassionate and patient and …also sexy! Both are struggling in some way, but they had great chemistry. The only thing that could have improved it would have been to expand it to include chapters from Seth’s pov. Really enjoyed Moving in Rhythm by Dev Bentham!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2012I think I have overdosed on sweetness as the last 3 books I have read were all a tad saccharine.
Moving in Rhythm was a nice sweet read but was let down by the ending. Mark's 'crippling' shyness seemed to disappear too quickly; allowing him to declare insta-love for Seth. I would have been much happier if the story ended on an upward swing to HEA rather than having all the threads tied off so neatly.
This book is worth a read but I doubt I will re-visit it any time soon. It is sweetly romantic. The characters are pleasant & likeable. The social anxiety that Mark suffers from is nicely handled but the ending lets the story down.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2019I’ve read this author before. I listened to the audiobook. Loved the characters Mark and Seth. This book was from Mark’s POV. Loved the dogs mixed in to the story too. I hope we get to see more of these two. The end came to soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2015Some of the other reviews describe Moving in Rhythm as sweet. I feel the story is far more complex and nuanced than just sweet. The world can be a dark place for people with crippling anxiety. Even more so for people who remain in the closet for fear of disappointing family members or losing friends. Dev Bentham does a beautiful job of revealing the pain experienced by a man dealing with both issues. It is well worth one's time to take the journey with Mark, both painful and joyful, to find the courage to overcome his fear and become a man capable of and deserving of love.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2012This was a very good story but could have been a great book. All of the characters needed more detail and time devoted to them. This should be a novel, not a novella. That said, I would buy it again in a heartbeat; I'm just disappointed that something so close to great missed the mark.
The writing is fantastic and the balance between sex and story is perfect.
