The Covering: God's Plan to Protect You in the Midst of Spiritual Warfare (Student Leadership University) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 45 ratings

In a world where evil seems to lurk around every corner and our thoughts turn to worry about our safety and security, the armor of God is our Father's protection in the fight against evils of our temporary home. Best-selling author Hank Hanegraaff describes God's protective covering over his children by dissecting Paul's words in Ephesians 6: 10-18 commanding us to put on the armor of God and "take our stand against the devil's schemes." Hanegraaff moves through the passage, phrase by phrase, defining God's armor, explaining what it means to embrace God's covering, and the practical ways God delivers us from evil.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s leading Christian authors and apologists, Hank is deeply committed to equipping Christians to be so familiar with truth that when counterfeits loom on the horizon, they recognize them instantaneously. Through his live call-in radio broadcast, Hank equips Christians to mine the Bible for all its wealth, answers questions on the basis of careful research and sound reasoning, and interviews today’s most significant leaders, apologists, and thinkers.

Hank is the author of more than twenty books, with more than a million copies in print. The Complete Bible Answer Book—Collector’s Edition, Revised and Updated, is a compendium of the most common, and the most difficult, questions regarding Christianity, culture, and cults that Hank has received over the past three decades. Answers to such questions as “How can Christians legitimize a God who orders the genocide of entire nations?” “Does the Bible promote slavery?” and “What happens to a person who dies without ever hearing of Jesus?”

Christianity in Crisis and Resurrection each won the Gold Medallion for Excellence in Christian Literature awarded by the Evangelical Christian Publisher’s Association (ECPA); Counterfeit Revival and The FACE That Demonstrates the Farce of Evolution each won ECPA’s Silver Medallion—the latter published in the condensed Fatal Flaws: What Evolutionists Don’t Want You to Know.

Other noteworthy volumes include The Prayer of Jesus, which rose to number one on the Christian Marketplace Bestseller list October 2002, while the DVD curriculum won a nationally recognized Angel Award for content and creativity. Through his ground-breaking The Apocalypse Code: What the Bible Really Teaches about the End Times and Why It Matters Today, as well as the thriller Fuse of Armageddon and historical fiction The Last Disciple Series, Hank exposes the dangers of both Christian and secular Zionism. In Has God Spoken? Hank provides memorable proofs of the Bible’s divine inspiration.

Additional works include The Legacy Study Bible, The Covering: God’s Plan to Protect You from Evil, The Creation Answer Book, and AfterLife: What You Need To Know about Heaven, the Hereafter and Near-Death Experiences. His newest book is the forthcoming M-U-S-L-I-M: What You Need to Know about the World’s Fastest Growing Religion.

This book brought a deeper level of meaning and how to practice and put into action daily how to suit up in the full armor Paul encourages all Christians to do that offers the best way to when the daily battles and ultimately the war against the dark unseen forces from Satan's domain . Without it we are totally vulnerable . When we are suited up daily with the full armor of God, nothing can penetrate our spiritual life, thus we grow stronger daily in the power and knowledge of God. This book, if read and studied as you complete the exercises can be like that of airline pilots who are required to go through a check list before they take off. They have read it thousands of times, but it ensures they do not miss one step that could case a disaster resulting in 100's of death. Suiting up everyday using the analogy of airline pilots non-negotiable check list everytime they climb into the cockpit, so too if you are a Christian this should also be a non-negotiable in your daily life.

Good book on a difficult subject. Some topics are a little depressing but over all the book is easy to read and a much needed subject to be familiar with in this current world.

When I opened the box that "The Covering" was shipped in, my first thought was that from now on I would check the product details for the size of the book and the number of pages it contained before purchasing it. Being an optimist by nature, I hoped I was not prejudging this "Jabez"-sized book by it's cover.
Opening it, I found that the book was about "The Full Armor of God" which is a topic that has been beaten to death by nearly every radio preacher in the past year. Optimistically, I hoped Hank would shed new light on the subject.
Hank did--I learned that Shaq played basketball poorly when his toe hurt. Actually the same thing happened to Calvin Hill during the hayday of the Dallas Cowboys, but that observation did not need to take up space in such a short book.
Reading further, Hank could not resist denegrating other writers' views on scripture. Being an infrequent listener to his radio show, it was not a surprise to me that he would attack other points-of-view in his usual Pharaseic style. It might have been appropriate in a book of literary criticism, but I suspect it was filler for a book that was lacking in substance.
Last, Hank encouraged readers to memorize all the biblical passages they could. He even explained some memory tricks for remembering which piece of armor goes with which spiritual trait. I have always viewed memorizing scripture as a way to sound authoritative without having to develop an understanding of the "big picture".
In summary, I feel I was [cheated], and the book was a minor disappointment. I would have given it one star, except there will be times where I will want to find a certain biblical passage, and it is much easier to look in this tiny book than in the entire New Testament.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best quick view on Spiritual Warfare

A very good, clear presentation of what Spiritual Warfare truly is. Others can be long-winded and subjective, but this book is clear, brief, and clearly based on the Bible.
