A woman and the bodyguard sworn to defend her discover an unexpected passion that neither can deny

The last assignment bodyguard Ian Walker wants is protecting Trudy Babbitt. She is his polar opposite: talkative, relentlessly cheerful, and prone to leaving her doors and windows unlocked. She fills her house with eccentric boarders—even when she should be in a witness protection program. But despite her maddening quirks, Ian can’t help but find her appealing. And though Ian has a gruff and stoic exterior, Trudy senses a gentle, loving man beneath. Will Ian let down his guard and accept a love he never imagined?  This ebook features an extended biography of Mary Kay McComas.

Mary Kay McComas was raised in the Great Pacific Northwest city of Spokane, Washington. Third of six children. Mary Kay went to college, and for ten years after that she worked as an intensive care nurse in a hospital.

Then she met her future husband, a lawyer, and her Prince Charming. The couple moved to the Shenandoah Valley in Northern Virginia, and raised four wonderful children.

After Mary Kay's children came along she didn't think things could get any better. But guess what, they did! On a dare from her husband to "write a better novel than that," Mary Kay took a stab at writing something longer than a letter and more fun than a college term paper.

It was not Mary Kay's intention to start a third career as a writer. However, as luck would have it, she was fortunate enough to find an encouraging agent and helpful, supportive editors. She hopes her stories will bring a little happiness into your life!

Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 1999
This is my favorite Mary Kay book. The humor in this novel surpasses any of her other novels. The plot centers around Ian Walker being hired to protect Trudy Babbitt. Their very first meeting is a sign of things to come as Trudi ends up falling on top of Walker while attemtping to pick up some branches she had dropped. From that point on, Trudi does bodily harm to Walker whenever he's about. Accidentally, mind you, and of course, it's his rotten luck to be in her line of fire. On top of Trudi being a klutz and unable to cook, she also has a house full of zany borders that Walker must contend with too. And to add to the laughs, the two seem unable to connect sexually, for one reason or another. I was laughing hysterically through the whole book.
