3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 24 ratings

"Dera looked back at him deliberately before she turned her back on him to rescue the nearly boiling milk, thinking hard. She wanted him and she wanted him badly.  She felt him move closer behind her and kiss her neck, feeling a rush of anticipation she turned back to him and smiled as she took  his hand in hers to lead him up the stairs."

Dera Lloyd is half fairy, half human. She is gentle and calm often the voice of wisdom until she meets Hawk.

Hawk Goodfellow is a full blooded fairy and the most trusted advisor to King Geraint of Aberlone. Due to a misunderstanding he has been banished to the human realm unable to access the fairy world. The Queen of the fairies has placed a curse on Hawk, stripping him of his powers. In order to lift the curse and get back his powers, he needs a fairy that is as powerful as the Queen Fairy to break the spell. His search leads him to Dera Lloyd.

Dera is not one to let her emotions rule her so when she meets Hawk she doesn't know what overtakes her. He stirs her senses in a way no one ever has and makes her feel things she's sworn never to feel. She makes up her mind to avoid him at all cost. But Hawk has his attention pinned on her and until he gets what he wants, he is not letting her out of his sight.

I enjoyed the preface that helped set up the story from the beginning. The fae's world with the link to ours was very well thought out. There were some great plot twists that added interest and originality in a genre that many times gets over-predictable. Looking forward to the next in the series to see how the author will develop this new world and the interactions between people and the fae.

Who knew that fairies had business here on earth? If you love the romance genre with some passionate moments thrown in to spice things up, this is a great read for you!

This was a fun short simple story of two worlds joining and getting a glimpse of sexy romance. I was interested from the first paragraph and was pleasantly surprised of a little bit of romance at the end. I feel that the author was on the fence about it being a romance story compared to a fantasy story. I expect more from a romance story, in fact i wouldn't even call this a romance type book, however I would consider this more of a fantasy story w/ a small little paragraph or two of sexy scenes.
It's nice to know that this was the first book in a series of books and the story line that it suggests is interesting enough for me to want to buy the rest of the series. I enjoyed that it was a short story and I finished the story the same night (even w/ interuptions!)I look forward to reading the rest of the sisters "finding their soulmate" storyline and i hope that maybe the author will do a longer story of maybe all the sisters together after they all find their soulmates. I also enjoyed the fae idea w/in the 21st century. This reminded me of a short story by Charles DeLint w/ a little bit of romance thrown in like Christine Feehan and Kelley Armstrong.
Overall it's a great read for a rainy day, while working out, or having a nice evening to yourself, as long as you like these types of fantasy stories.

This short book is a pleasant story, clearly the beginning of a long series, and nicely executed. A couple of observations, however - overall, it is a bit rough - the book could have done with the services of a competent editor to smooth out the odd bit of dodgy grammar and punctuation and give it a more polished look - and the "adult content" scene suddenly plonked into the book about 3/4 of the way through was, I felt, unnecessary and added nothing to the work. If it had not been for this one scene, which could be deleted without any loss to the work as a whole, the book would also be suitable for children, opening up a whole extra market for it.

Other than that, I felt the story was a little rushed towards the end - another couple of thousand words to arrive at the neat solution wouldn't have gone astray. However, fantasy readers are notoriously forgiving, and I feel sure this series will find a devoted following.

I enjoyed this story very much, I really can't call it a book, it was much to short for that. I'm about to read the next book in the series and am hoping it will be a bit more satisfying. Ms. Emrick is talented author I believe & hopefully will be writing longer stories/books in the near future

I'll admit, the cover is what convinced me to get this book; but once I started reading it I was drawn right into the story. I had never heard of the author before but I'll definitely be looking for the other two books in the trilogy.

There are actually two storylines going at the same. There is turmoil in the land of the Fae and turmoil here in our world. The Fae can travel between the realms, live here and/or be banished to here. The Fae can also marry humans who live here and have children from that union. That's where the Lloyd Sisters of the title come from. This is the story of Dera one of the sisters from the title.

No spoilers here, but I will say this is a "happy ever after" story. So, if you like romances, this is for you.

Story was OK. too much telling how things were rather than showing which left me outside the created worlds. Too much justification of why things were the way they were (things that needed to be in the authors head but not necessarily on the written page.). The writing did not create a smooth read and character development fell flat, I failed to connect with any of the characters enough to care about the outcome of the story.

This was a good short story with romance, mystery and fantasy. There was sex between Dera and Hawk, but it was all "off camera". It can be read as a stand-alone, but I'm hoping it will be even better when followed by the other two books in the trilogy.

I got this book because of the Celtic Fae legend, but instead what I found was a short love story. It's not bad but it's not a great story either. That's why I say it's good for a rainy evening.
