This book was another great reading experience by Kevin O'Brien. The plot was very original and the characters intriguing. I might be a bit biased as I have loved every one of Kevin O'Brien's books and I've read every one since I discovered his writing a few years ago. I love his writing style and he is adept at drawing the reader in, bit by bit until you absolutely cannot put the book down. This was another example of that writing style that I love! It took me a little longer to get drawn in because there were so many players involved but once I did I couldn't put it down. My new Kevin O'Brien book was just auto delivered to my kindle today and I absolutely can't wait to go on another thrill ride with Kevin!

I always go back to O’Brien when I need a good book to read. This was another good story, but it dragged a bit (a tad TMI, too much explaining). Not my favorite but still a good read. I liked the characters. This one took a bit longer to get through than usual for an O’Brien book, but his are always worth the read.

What a plot! How does O'Brien come up with all this? Though a bit tedious at times, and the personification a bit of a stretch, I like the surprises near the end.

I have read all of O'Brien's books and always found them eerily engaging and at times frightening, but this time I did not find the same suspense I found in Killing Spree and Make Them Cry. While I consider this book a good mystery, it does not measure up to previous thriller novels I know O'Brien is capable of. The beginning of the book is tedious to read and while it doesn't hint at it, the reader knows that there is a mystery murderer among the all so innocent people in Collins life. Knowing that murders that took place 50 yrs earlier tells the reader that whoever was involved had to be an older person. There was one character in the novel that just disappeared and never mentioned again, even though he had taken a mysterious place in Collin's life through several chapters. I found that O'Brien left some incidents dangling and never filled the end result. I really think it is an ok book and worthy of a few nights of reading but not one of those novels you cannot put down and have to read to the early hours of the morning just to find out what happens in the end. This book you can put down and start up again the next day without a nagging need for conclusion.

This is a real page turner. This well written book is very entertaining and keeps you on edge constantly.
It is very clever how O'Brien manipulates you in suspecting EVERY person in the story. When at last, quite near the end of the book, you suddenly know who's done it, he doesn't beake stride. He knows exactly when you draw the right conclusion, and doesn't spend any time explaining things that need no explanation. He just wraps it all up in a 'nail biting' finale. A very satisfying book, written by somebody who knows WHAT you think and WHEN you think it (isn't it eery?).

I'm a big fan of Kevin O'Brien. I think I've read all his book. This one was very entertaining and quite suspenseful. However, the plot is pretty complicated and best read in the fewest sittings possible. That will eliminate some confusion. Unfortunately, several things prevented me from reading this book as quickly as I would have liked. The good characters in the book are very well drawn and worth rooting for. The author keeps you guessing about who exactly the bad guys are. Unfortunately some good people get killed along the way, which adds to the angst of other major characters. However, the not so good characters end up getting theirs in the end, which is satisfying to the reader. A good read!

I LOVED this book. My first read with this author and definitely not my last. It is so well written. The author introduces you to the characters and what they are doing and it is up to the reader to figure out how they might be connected. There are so many twists and pieces of the puzzle to fit together. It is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read!

This book was recommended by an avid book club reader (thank you, Pinky). I could not buy a hardcopy of this book on any website (I'm old school material) hence opted to buy the ebook. This is the first ebook I've ever read. Did i enjoy the experience? I did, surely and i found it to be an extremely convenient way to read, but... yes i did miss the feel and smell of pages that an actual book emits. Having said that, I'm checking out a few Kindles. 😊

Getting on to the book, it's a fast-paced suspense thriller. The twists and turns don't stop at any point of time. The author keeps you hooked. When you're done by about 75% of the book, the author throws in a very subtle clue. So subltle, in fact, that very few readers will actually grasp it. I read this one through the day and polished it off. To all of you out there who enjoy suspense-thrillers, pick this one up immediately. A big applause, for this one, to Kevin O'Brien. 😊
