Chain Reaction: A Novel Kindle Edition
What makes a house a home are the stories of the people who live there. And for the briefest of moments—when a house changes hands—the worlds of the sellers and buyers collide . . .
A woman too old and frail to live on her own sells her apartment to a middle-aged couple forced to downsize due to financial woes. Their modest house proves the perfect place for an upper-middle-class family to start over after the son is accused of a dreadful crime. The home they flee catches the eye of a washed-up pop star who can no longer afford his country estate, one that has been secretly purchased to hide a scandalous royal dalliance.
With her trademark wit and verve, Gillian White shows the unexpected ways we can affect each other’s lives when one FOR SALE sign sets off a chain reaction . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars it has to be a five
its got to be a five! starts off interesting with the various reasons for down-sizing but then begins to entwine the characters without their knowing theyre in the chain. Hilarious Love the tongue in cheek references to the royal family who many have no idea theyre in the chain until the story evolves. A gentle story but good humour, and an interesting insight into the human frailties well written

5.0 out of 5 stars Very unusual story
I really enjoyed this book and was so sad when it was finished. You would never imagine the story and lives of the folk who are in this chain and the outcome. Do not want to spoil any of it for you, just read and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely brilliant book. I had to keep reading
An absolutely brilliant book. I had to keep reading! A very clever plot, and extremely well written, as are all of Ms White's books. I can't recommend highly enough….

2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING
I liked reading about the lives of all the people in 'the chain' but as the book went on it became more unreal and almost farcical. The part about the Queen visiting the old lady was unbelievable and the Prince appeared to be an idiot. Vernon's story was the best part in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book
Gillian White is amazing. I have enjoyed all of her novels and this is no exception. She should be a household name and I am baffled that she isn't! Right up there with Mo Hayder in my opinion.
