A beloved storyteller takes young readers - and listeners - to the Green Forest to recount the adventures of Peter Cottontail, Mrs. Quack, Jimmy Skunk, Danny Meadow Mouse, and other woodland friends.

I bought this for my grand son. The post person bent it to put it in my mailbox. It should have been brought to our house since it did not fit “flat” in th e box!

This book is a pleasure to read aloud to young children and a pleasure for children to explore reading to themselves. It presents believable human nature behaviors in the world of animal characters it’s special gift is that it is quietly character-building in its story lines.

I purchased this book book for my (then) 5 year old son and he loves it! This book is a compilation of chapters from the original books and therefore it should be noted that it DOES NOT include the full stories (i.e, books). Despite this fact, it is still a great addition for a young child or as an intro to Burgess' stories. Also, since my son enjoys listening to stories on his mp3 player, we added these and he was VERY excited about having this book as take-anywhere, read-along material. The pictures are also very nice and a wonderful addition. . .he enjoys just thumbing through the book to look at these, reminiscing about the events of each story.

Overall, an excellent purchase and highly recommended.

Thornton Burgess's stories may be old, but they still resonate with young children. My daughters love the stories and it sparks their imagination. In addition, the CD's are complete and are over 1 1/2 hours. This is an excellent addition to any child's library and the CD's extend the value. They are great for rest times, or nap/bed times. The only possible negative is that the book is a paperback, and your child may read it so many times that the book may wear out quickly. But this is well worth a look.

I love Burgess’s stories and I especially love beautifully illustrated books, so I wanted to love this. But the illustrations are placed in a fashion that does does not flow or make sense with the text. So frustrating when reading to children. Completely disrupts the flow of a good read-aloud. Which Burgess stories are. I do love having these full color gorgeous illustrations, if only they were placed well within the stories.

I remember these books from my childhood, and am glad to see that they are still in print after 70 years! As I looked through the collection with an eye to choosing certain stories for my grandchildren, I found myself wanting to include all of them, as I remembered them all so well. Large print, nice illustrations. Can't wait for my 6 yr old to read them to me!

The stories are cute and we like the pictures as well but the binding fell apart in less than a week. I recommend these stories, but not this version/binding. I had to tape all the pages in individually.

Wasn't pleased. It was almost like Thornton Burgess never actually finished these stories. They end in mid thought and then proceed to another story. The pictures are nice but that is about it.
