About the author

Recipient of recognitions from Mom's Choice,The Dove Foundation and Writers Digest, author Sheila Kilpatrick wrote the Anastasia Pickering series for everyone who has faced a rainy day. She believes perplexing or difficult situations can present us with colorful answers if we listen to our inner (fairy) voices.
Sheila, a breast cancer survivor has faced her own rain with the help of loyal friends and family. Her niece and nephew's magical points of view helped her see reflective healing colors in the quiet of the rain. She hopes "Anastasia's Rain" will open young minds to a different perspective as they face the showers and downpours of their own lives.
Sheila received an Associates degree in photography/graphic design from Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach,Virginia and a Batchelor of Science degree in art education from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
"Anastasia's Rain," published by Morgan James Publishing is her first children's book and focuses on the lesson of patience. You can find Sheila in Virginia Beach, Va. She will be writing stories, riding her horse, cooking or playing with her canine friends.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013While searching for an e-book to read to kids while babysitting, my 14 year old daughter saw Anastasia's Rain and was intrigued by the sweet illustrations. She was delighted to find out that the story was just as wonderful. She said the kids loved reading about how Anastasia went to a dog shelter and found her perfect pup and how she helped show Rufus that no matter what happens in life there's always a light at the end of the tunnel!
We are hoping to see more stories about Anastasia and Rufus in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2013Beautiful story with a great message. Loved the illustrations. Will be giving this book to all the little ones in my life.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2021This is a charming book that has the potential of grabbing the imagination of a child and could become a special favorite. I loved the colored rain drops and the rainbow at the end. I actually had a dog named Rufus, and a little girl and her dog are perfect.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2013I taught school for many years. I spent a lot of time looking for books that were not only SUITABLE for children, but that had something extra.......a lesson, wit, charm, imagination, etc. "Anastasia's rain" is so well thought out, and cleverly entwines lessons with a delightful story.
if only there were more books of this kind for children who are bombarded with nonsensical, vacuous and sometimes even violent forms of entertainment. I applaud the author, and wish I could spread this message to teachers and parents who seek wholesome and interesting reading for their little ones.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2013In search of character-building books for kids in addition to the classics, I came across this sweet gem. I'm not sure if it was that it featured a little GIRL and her dog, or that it was set in the rain that drew me in first. But in the end it's both of those twists that has made it a favorite among the young ones in my life. It's a great little story of patience, and I just love that there is an outward symbol of one's inner voice in the fairly. Highly recommend!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2013As a grandmother of 6 I am constantly searching for gifts for my grandkids or to have in our personal library for their visits. Anastasia's Rain is always a favorite! The illustrations as well as the lessons learned are great help to start conversation about many things. This is a book I enjoy giving to other families as a gift as well. I hope we are able to see more from this author and illustrator in the future!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2013My students loved this book! It was fun to hear their discussions on the theme. Since patience is a trait that I talk about a lot in class it's a great book for character trait study. I read the story first without showing the pictures and the children illustrated according to their visualizations. They liked it even more the second time, comparing their pictures with the illustrator's. The illustrations are delightful.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2015I have to say that this is a really great children book. My daughter enjoyed it very much. She really love the illustration in the book. She put it right next to her favorite book Pinkalicious.
