Bulletin of International Society of Soil Science - 1980
"In short, it would be difficult to conceive of any initial course of instruction on soils which would not benefit from use of this original and refreshing presentation."
R. T. Smith - Teaching Geography - 1980
"A most useful book for first or second year soil courses in Geography"

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical guide to soil science
Well written and presented publication, which is excellent at dealing with the basic and practical aspects of soil science and not concentrating too much on the "chemical analysis" of soils associated with some books. Easily read from start to finish, it deals with many aspects of soil as a resource for cultivation and environmental development, and is accompanied by good chapter structure and a comprehensive, yet simple index. Well illustrated with diagrams, charts and photographs, this is an excellent publication worthy of any reference or private library dedicated to soil and principles and practice of using soils in the modern context of environmental control and as a natural resource for cultivation.
