The Christmas Angel: A Novel Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 78 ratings

"I lingered over the pages and the years as this special Christmas Angel was handed down from one generation to the next. This is a story that will linger in your mind and in your heart." --Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times bestselling author

A charming, heart-warming Christmas tale, sure to delight fans of Debbie Macomber and Richard Paul Evans, about the power of family, tradition, and love

In 1875, Owen Thomas, a poor Welsh coal miner, falls in love with a beautiful London actress, Jessica Lavery. He builds her a cottage in his village, and enchants her with the promise of the holidays they'll share after they marry. According to his special Thomas family tradition, the Christmas tree must always be outside, where it can look up to God. Owen carves her an angel to go on top of their tree, with lavender eyes like hers, a token more meaningful to her than any engagement ring. When Jessica breaks off their romance, Owen, broken-hearted, wraps the angel in his mother's shawl and brings her to America. There, she looks down over five generations, witnessing peace and war, triumphs and tragedies, reminding all who see her that Christmas is the time when families and sweethearts can come together, laughter and goodwill can lighten even the heaviest burden, and magic fills the earth. Jane Maas' book is a story of faith and love. And of the miracle that brought the angel home again.

She was a great writer! It is a beautiful story and I was there for part of it. My sister Debbie is amazing and a true beautiful spirit. Chrissy is amazing and both are beautiful mothers. How blessed we are to have them in our lives. The rest of the story there was some poetic license AS IT IS A BOOK AND SHE WAS NOT AN ENCYCLOPEDIA IT WAS HER THOUGHTS and Experiences! Unfortunately my mother died.
MAY HER TRUE STORIES LIVE ON AS DEBBIE AND CHRISSY DO IN BEAUTIFUL BEAUTY!
YOU WILL BE TOUCHED AND NOT DISAPPOINTED IN THIS STORY.

Very sweet story and book. I had read her “Christmas in Wales - a Homecoming“ and loved it, so thought I would like this as well. Definitely did. Welsh is in my family tree, so both of these books were especially pertinent for me. I found myself and my family everywhere in them. Most enjoyable for me.

I am not a person who reads all the time, and this is one book that I could not put down. It was one that you had no idea how it was going to end until you got to the final page and then it was a surprise for me.

I was really excited to receive this product and start planning for the upcoming holiday season. When I opened it up, though, I was disappointed. Not with the product itself, but with the condition of the one we received. This is a great alternative to Elf on the Shelf and emphasizes true meaning of Christmas. The story and doll are pretty cute. However, the collector tin was dented and appeared to have been previously opened as the sticker seals were halfway unstuck on both sides. The book cover was dirty and had two sticky pieces of tape on it, one on the front and one on the back. The doll's dress was not fully hemmed and was coming unraveled. And the back of the head had a hole where the seam was coming unstitched. It appears we must have received one that had been previously returned, rather than a new one. I'm returning it but will order a replacement, hoping that it will be in better condition.
