Airfields and Airmen Cambrai is another volume in a series of works by Michael O'Connor that guides the reader to the airfields that were situated around Cambrai, France during World War One. The airmen that fought and died in the skies over Cambrai are located in cemeteries which this volume helps the reader to locate. This guide, like the others in the series are superbly researched and illustrated with photos of the airfields (often, then and now photos!) and the brave airmen who perished in the conflict. Michael O'Connor tells their story and pays them tribute. I may never go to France and see these airfields and final resting places of the airmen but these books are truly, the next best thing. I find that all of Michael O'Connor's books are essential reference tools for my World War One Aviation Library. In my opinion, Michael O'Connor is a great historian who has taken much time and effort to shed light upon an often overlooked and under-appreciated facet of history. Here are links to his other works: AIRFIELDS AND AIRMEN : SOMME (Battleground Europe) AIRFIELDS AND AIRMEN : YPRES (Battleground Europe) AIRFIELDS AND AIRMEN OF THE CHANNEL COAST (Battleground I) AIRFIELDS AND AIRMEN OF ARRAS (Battleground Europe) IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE RED BARON (Battleground Europe) This last title has Manfred von Richthofen's airfields and victims highlighted. It is a Michael O'Connor and Norman Franks collaboration. See my review for more details!
