The Starfighter was once described as a delight to fly, but one mistake and it will kill you. It is one of the worlds fastest fighters with a top speed of Mach 2.2 and a service ceiling of 58,000 feet. First delivered to the USAF in 1958 it was also sold to the German, Greek, Italian, Turkish and Italian Air Forces. It could carry a variety of air to air, and air to surface missiles and was powered by a single General Electric J79 turbojet that developed 17,900lbs of thrust with afterburner. The Italian Air Force continued to fly it into the 21st Century.This book contains the world famous color profiles created by Dave Windle of the type in different operational modes, configurations and color schemes. Martin Bowman has written detailed descriptions and photographs to create the perfect enthusiasts' reference.

    This book is a huge disappointment, and an extremely overpriced one at that. Other than a few pages of color profiles as the end, it offers only a "canned" history of the justly famous F-104. The B&W photos accompanying the text (which, by the way, is printed in large type to take up more space) have been seen many times by anyone who has read anything on the Starfighter. The list price for this book -- which amazon.com of course discounts, is an incredible $39.95, for a small fortmat volume of only 88 pages!! In short, no honest, legitimate publisher would offer a volume so lacking as this one! Save your money; there are much better books on the Starfigher. Don't purchase this one!

    Wished I had checked reviews first but got caught up in Prime Day madness. Book will work for youth trying to learn about this incredible plane but for a older generation like myself it is lacking in photo detail. Color profile are good, wished they were more 360 images and bigger showing.

    Volle fünf Punkte für ein Buch das leider in englischer Sprache ist welches aber sehr gute Details und Hintergrundwissen vermittelt und die sehr genauen und Seitenrisse sind auch für Modellbauer interessant und anregend, das Geld hat sich gelohnt, nicht gerade günstig, aber Verarbeitung und Inhalt top, also Qualitätsware, da kann man schon mal einen Euro mehr ausgeben wenn solch ein gut verarbeitetes Buch auch ein Leben lang Freude bereitet.
