Says "NOT FOR RESALE" and black and white photos.
This "used book" came in like new condition. I'm happy enough because it tells me what I wanted to know but disappointed that the illustrations were black and white. It was not what I expected. On the front cover is - not a sticker - it is part of the cover, a block that indicates: *** "Advance Reading Copy. NOT FOR RESALE. Please note: This is an uncorrected black and white proof. The finished book will be printed in full color with color photos throughout." *** This is my first: less than thrilled result of buying used books. I guess I'll have to be a little more careful in the future.

Good recipes.

This is my #1 favorite cookbook now, and I feel lucky to have found it. I had done many searches on Amazon for keywords such as "simple, healthy dinners" but somehow never came across this one. Then one of my facebook friends posted a link to it and as soon as I saw it and read the description, I pretty much knew it would be fantastic. The things I like about it are that it IS simple, the recipes can be made in 30 minutes or less, plus they are healthy but do not taste like "diet recipes."

I had planned to work my way through the book one recipe at a time, but there was already one I liked so much that I made it twice in about 3 weeks. (It's the one with the quinoa, corn and sausage).

I don't have that much weight to lose but I have struggled with a few extra pounds. This cookbook plus watching my calories the rest of the day has helped me lose 3-4 pounds. I had realized that in the evenings, I was just eating mindlessly and never feeling satisfied. Now I can eat one portion of one of these dinners, know how many calories I am taking in, and plus I feel satisfied so I don't fall into the trap of mindless snacking the rest of the evening.

One of the few cookbooks that is filled with recipes I actually want to prepare. I like that it includes a list of all the pantry staples you need to prepare every recipe in the book. Recipes include common grocery items, no weird ingredients that are hard to find. The recipes are a little too low-cal for a family member who needs extra calories, but it's easy to adjust the recipes for that by using whole milk instead of 2% for example. I also like that Ellie's recipes are easy to follow for real world meal prep - no mise en place needed, just pull your ingredients out and in about 30 minutes you have dinner.

I prefer a photograph for each recipe because it's hard for me to visualize otherwise, only about 1/3 of the recipes have a photo included.

Each recipe serves 4 and includes nutritional information, which is very helpful when you are counting calories or need excellent/good sources of specific vitamins and minerals.

This is another group of very good recipes from Ellie Krieger BUT many of them take longer than 30 minutes, some much longer.
I have been cooking for over 40 years and I can move through the kitchen pretty quickly, but there are some of these recipes that take between 45 and 60 minutes to prepare. Perhaps if some prep were done in advance, the thirty minute timeframe is realistic. Still we have enjoyed the recipes in this book. I use it often but allow more time to get dinner on the table.

Ellie Krieger delivers an amazing cookbook, packed with delicious recipes, and easy to prepare. These mouth-watering, simple recipes are based on pure minimally processed ingredients, with time on your side. The author shares information on: The Pantry; Oils And Vinegars; Condiments; Sauces; and other flavor boosters. In addition, there is information on Vegetables; Fruits; Fish; Beans; Broths; Sweeteners And Leaveners. The colorful photos of cooked meals are inviting.

There are Healthy Shortcuts; A section on Nuts And Seeds; and much more. Information is also provided on Grains; In The Freezer; The Spice Rack; Fresh Steamed Vegetables; Poultry And Meat, and charts.

Included by the author is information on Fast Lean Proteins; Simple Accompaniments, and Nutrition Facts. There are Starters And Side Salads; Main Course Salads; and a variety of delicious salads. We made the Celery, Radish And Herb Salad, and enjoyed it very much. There are also: Soups; Sandwiches; Burgers; Beef; Pork; Lamb; Chicken; Stew; Chili; Stir-fry; Pizza; One-pot Meals; Fish; Pasta; Vegetable Dishes, and Desserts. This is a fantastic addition to my cookbook collection. Highly recommended!

Love Ellie's books. These meals are easy and delicious and most fit my clean eating diet. She has a newer book that tells how to freeze and store-a feature I wish this book had but have managed to figure out on my own. Her recipes are easy, tasty, healthy, and worth repeating. I have passed books around to friends and coworkers-many who loved them so much they are buying their own copy. I have about a dozen favorites from each book and several more to try-can't wait! BTW, I also find I can play around with the recipes to my own taste or based on what I have. I substituted dates for figs and almonds for pine nuts in a salad. Still perfect. Couldn't find sherry vinegar and substituted white wine vinegar-tasted great. I am not a good cook on my own but the simplicity and versatility of her recipes has given me confidence in the kitchen.

I'm a big fan of Ellie Krieger and this book doesn't disappoint. This is not an over-the-top, make everything from scratch, buy from the health food store type of book. It's sensible, quick and easy recipes that use everyday pantry items. No special equipment or shopping trips needed. Favourites are the Open Face Mediterranean Salmon on pita, the Apricot Teriyaki Chicken and the Steak Fajitas. This is my go-to weekday meal ideas book.
