Tinsel My Heart Kindle Edition
Becca Huntley's produced the Lyndale Park Players' over-the-top Christmas show for ten years. It's a beloved Minneapolis tradition, and the theater's main fundraiser. But this year's production is in danger of being canceled when their director disappears into rehab. Good thing his directing partner steps in to save the day. Except for the minor fact that he hates everything about Christmas.
Jack Whittaker wiped this town off his shoe with his graduation tassel and never looked back. But duty compels him to fulfill Tyler's promise to direct the show. Even though it means working with Becca, the girl he always wanted, lost to Ty, but never forgot.
It'll take more than a few handfuls of tinsel to soften Jack's heart toward Becca's favorite holiday. Steamy kisses that melt the snow right off his boots are a step in the right direction. They'll both discover that Christmas is about making each other's dreams come true. But will it require sacrificing their chance at a happily-ever-after together?

Becca Huntley, Jack Whittaker and Tyler Petersen were all best friends in high school. In fact, they were like the Three Musketeers, one for all and all for one. But Jack was different from Becca and Tyler. Jack was the poor kid of the school janitor and the other kids never let him forget it. When he finally graduated from high school, he couldn't wait to leave Minneapolis and swore he would never return.
Fast forward ten years and not only is he returning to the Twin Cities, he's there to direct a Christmas play being produced by Becca. A play that Tyler was supposed to direct until he decided at the last minute to check into rehab. Did I mention that Jack has hated Christmas since he was a child? Jack and Ty are business partners so Jack has no choice but to rearrange his schedule and the production schedule to fill in for Ty.
So far so good. My problem with the book is Ty's parents. I understand their first appearance in the book, but that should have been that. Honestly, they probably shouldn't have even been in the book at all. Jack and Becca are at a crossroads in their lives and are making discoveries about their high school days and the part Ty played in their lives. This Christmas could be the Christmas that Becca and Jack are finally pointed in the right direction, free to follow their own dreams, and get everything they've ever dreamed of.
I'm a big fan of Christi Barth so it really pains me to say that I didn't like this book. I found it to be enjoyable at times and other times truly frustrating. Tinsel My Heart is a friends to lovers/second chance romance story that could have been so much more.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2014TINSEL MY HEART is a sweet, heart-warming friends-to-lovers story that really put me in the holiday spirit!
Becca Huntley is in trouble. No doubt about it. Her community theater company, the Lyndale Park Players, is supposed to be putting on its annual Christmas play, complete with a big-name director to film it so the proceeds can getting them a new theater space. Problem is, said big-name director hauled himself off to rehab for drug addiction. Just when she thought they were sunk, in walks in Jack Whittaker, the other half of the directing duo, and the man who fueled her teenaged fantasy when they both in high school together ten years ago.
Jack Whittaker promised himself when he graduated high school that he’d never set foot in his Minnesota home town again, so why is he here? His directing partner left him with the commitment of directing this community play when he went to rehab. And it’s a Christmas play at that. Jack hates everything Christmas. The holiday just brings back all the turmoil of his childhood. The only upside to this whole mess is that he gets to work with his high school crush, Becca, who just happened to go from pretty girl to beautiful woman in the last ten years.
As Jack and Becca get reacquainted, share a few super steamy kisses, and come together to make the Lyndale Park Players’ production a success, he realizes that the girl he liked has grown into a woman he loves. Maybe Christmas isn’t so bad after all.
TINSEL MY HEART was just adorable. Jack and Becca were so cute together. I’m glad that they were able to come to terms with their shared past so that they were able to move forward together. I’m an absolute sucker for friends-to-lovers and “second chance at love” stories, so this was right up my alley. TINSEL MY HEART is tame compared to some of the stories that I read, but it was no less steamy. The sexual tension these two shared was thick enough to cut with knife.
My only complaint about TINSEL MY HEART was that it was just too short. At only about 120 pages long, I felt like the author tried to take on too much extra story that she really didn’t have time to develop with everything else going on. I wish the story had been longer to give development to some of those side stories to make the overall book more fleshed out.
Even still, I enjoyed reading this story from the first page to the last. So four stars for this delightful holiday story. TINSEL MY HEART is the second book I’ve read by author Chrsiti Barth, and love the way she blends romance with stories I can relate to in such a way that I can’t stop myself from turning the page.
