One of North America’s leading chocolate educators, Eagranie Yuh is the author of The Chocolate Tasting Kit. She’s been cited in publications including the Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Times, and The Globe and Mail, and has been featured on America’s Test Kitchen Radio and CBC Radio One. As the Canadian partner and grand jury member of the International Chocolate Awards, she has travelled the world judging chocolate competitions.

When not playing with chocolate, she dissects the science of sweet as a freelance writer and editor. She’s senior editor with Edible Vancouver, sweets columnist for the Vancouver Courier, and contributor to Eater Vancouver. Her work is included in Best Food Writing 2012 and 2014.

Before becoming a professional writer, Eagranie worked as a pastry chef and chocolatier in some of Canada’s top kitchens, including a gig at the 2007 Beard Awards, assisting the chefs of Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa. She has a master’s degree in organic chemistry, which gives her a unique perspective on flavor, food, and science. Little-known fact: seven years of working in chemistry labs temporarily knocked out her sense of smell.

Eagranie lives in Vancouver, Canada, and blogs at thewelltemperedchocolatier.com. She has a weakness for whiskey, dogs with short legs, and random acts of dancing.

If you didn't like chocolate before, this book will quickly change that status. This guide transforms chocolate from being just a candy or garnish into an experience. Chocolate becomes a main event, and inspires readers to be present, mindful and appreciative of every bite. After using this book at a fun chocolate tasting with friends, I feel like a bit of a chocolate expert now. But I think I might need some more practice.
