Oh my, this was a good novella. I wish it were a full-length novel, simply because I liked the story, characters and the intriguing cursed scrimshaw doll so much. Aubrey broke my heart, losing both her parents to a car wreck when she was sixteen and then spending the next full decade fighting kidney disease. She has had dialysis for a decade, with only a ten-month break when she got a transplant, but then rejected the kidney. She has now been given a year or less to live unless she gets a transplant.

    And then she meets Jim.

He comes in her antique toy shop with scrimshaw doll he found in the woods. They put it on consignment together so they both "own" it. Looking into its history they find it's supposed to be cursed and end up sharing the curse only to be broken when they find true love. They share a sweet, loving relationship despite her being so ill. Jim finds out but decides if they get thirty years or thirty days together, the time together is worth it.

An excellent novella with a lot of heart and delves into a surprising amount of storyline and emotions. Loved.

From cover to cover, i found this book spellbinding, marvelous and couldn't put it down. Ms. Foxtail had my emotions jumping from sadness, laughter, anger and finally happiness at the way she ended the story. A five star to be sure.

Aubrey is a level-headed young woman that sells antique dolls. Her time is fast running out without a transplant...and no donor is in sight. But she has a good friend to help out on occasion, when she'll let her.
The hero is a commercial photographer working on books of ghost towns and empty buildings and the history and stories they tell.
When these two start dating, it's amazing. This is a journey you have to take with this couple. It's a happy, sad, loving, and human story not to be missed. You must read this book.
This author is a talent not to be missed. She will just keep improving as a writer with each book and story.

An awesome suspense by a first time author. Part of the Tales of the Scrimshaw Doll multi-author series, Tamrie does a great job building the tension. I enjoyed her writing style and the story so much! Love, suspense and a creepy doll round into a great quick read.

Tamrie Foxtail's characters--so real you can hear them breathe--pulled me through the pages of this unexpected tale of love, hope, and perseverance. I recommend this book to all readers who, like me, love to be swept away by a remarkable story.

This addition to the SCRIMSHAW DOLL series is a very good one. I would recommend this and all of the books in this series to readers.
