    Taking this first step is brave, and I’m so proud of you. When I picked up this book, I felt overwhelmed with anger, bitterness, and despair. I thought it was outdated, but I gave it a chance—and I’m so glad I did.

    You may feel no love for your husband right now or even resist his love. I started there too. That’s why I encourage you to find a prayer partner—someone who can stand with you, especially when you can’t pray yourself. Weekly prayer with my prayer partner was a key part of this journey.

    For 16 years, I suffered in silence. I began this book in November 2023, and by July 2024, everything changed. My marriage isn’t perfect, but it’s now filled with mutual presence, effort, and even joy. We have the next 16+ years to continue building something beautiful.

    Let the Spirit guide you through this book. Chapter 1 is tough, but revisit it and any other chapters you feel drawn to as often as needed.

Each subsequent chapter talks about a different aspect of what is relevant to a man, such as his work, trials, fatherhood, emotions, future, etc. Each chapter includes a few pages of literature, a prayer written specifically for that topic and then several Bible verses pertaining to that topic. Unless noted, the Scripture quotations are taken from the New King James Version of the Bible.

    I really enjoyed this book and feel that it will help me a lot which, in turn, will help my husband! I read the book cover to cover first but I plan to go back and read the chapter(s) that are important at the time so I can really focus on those specific prayers. I really like how there are so many topics so you can pick and choose what you feel you need to read and then you can always reference other ones at a later point in time. I also feel the prayers are very specific and focused and I think they provide a good template to use. You could always alter them if you need to as well.

I also decided to get the book for myself and it is a great reference to help with praying for husband. Only downsize is that it is not a traditional size book - it is more pocket size, which maybe that is good because you can just throw it in your purse. That is the reason for the four (4) start.
