Marriage in a Nutshell Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

Two dozen proverbs from the Biblical book of Proverbs, together with another two dozen proverbs from other sources, are presented and commented on in relation to the behaviors and attitudes that make a good--or a problematic--marriage. Entries are brief, designed as food for thought by those too busy to read lengthy books about the marriage relationship. Reading and contemplating a proverb a day will help transform your marriage into a true partnership. The principles in the book should be known and understood by those planning on getting married and those who have been married--a short or a long time. Don't miss this opportunity to transform your marriage and experience the joy and satisfaction it can have.

About the Author

Robert Harris was born in 1950 in Los Angeles, California. He holds a PhD in English from the University of California at Riverside. His interest in marriage and relationships started many years ago, while he was still sin-gle, observing married couples interact. He saw some couples function as a harmonious unit and other couples treating each other as enemies. In later years, continued observation, personal experience, and substantial research led him to consider sharing what he had learned. He began mounting Web pages about improving relationships. Then one day he witnessed a young couple in a supermarket arguing in hostile tones over whether to buy a particular jar of jelly. It oc-curred to him then that a short, easily accessible little book about marriage might be helpful for such couples. Not long after that, he was reading in the book of Proverbs, and the idea for the current volume took root. Dr. Harris lives in Tustin with his excellent wife, Marie.

Dr. Bob Harris' little book "Marriage in a Nutshell" is a gem of insight and advice to enhance the relationship of couples wanting to improve their communication and take advantage of "doing it God's way." Our Sunday Bible class has been discussing these proverbs for sometime with more group participation than any other study in recent memory. I also made a copy of this helpful book available to each member in a group of younger married women who are keen on avoiding marital pitfalls and wants to grow in their husband/wife relationships. It was well-received. The one-page chapters give sage advice in the form of proverbs from the Bible first and then other knowledgeable sources. The discussions are short but pithy with humor and food for thought. An easy read for a daily dose of wisdom on improving ones marriage or any relationship. Submitted by Sharry Robinette.

There can never be too many practical books offering "insight" into one of the most if not the most significant relationship dynamics in today's climate. Dr. Harris offers non-cliche advisement which can be appreciated by all married couple. Whether newly weds or tenured couples, this books keeps the reader focused on the essential things that fortify the marriage relationship. The little flare of comedy plays well in allowing the reader to feel conviction for the short comings of their own relationships while offering a refreshing encouragement for course correction in their marriage. This is definitely a book that should be given to all married couples!
