4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 382 ratings

As the leaves begin to fall in idyllic Dappled Hills, someone puts too fine a point on a local ladies’ man. Fortunately, the detective skills of quilter Beatrice Coleman are a cut above the rest....

The Village Quilters of Dappled Hills, North Carolina, are desperate to finish their quilts before an upcoming show. To help, fellow member Posy has opened the back room of her shop, the Patchwork Cottage, for everyone to use. But the ladies are less than thrilled when Phyllis Stitt and Martha Helmsley—members of their rival quilting guild, the Cut-Ups—ask to join them.

Phyllis is hoping to leave the Cut-Ups and join up with the Village Quilters now that Martha’s dating her ex-fiancé, Jason Gore. She’s not pleased when he visits the shop and even more upset when her new shears disappear. After offering to search for them, Beatrice discovers Jason with the shears buried in his unfaithful heart. Now she must sharpen her sleuthing skills to find a killer before someone else’s life is cut short.…

This was a fun read. The characters are developing well along with the small town atmosphere giving me the feeling of visiting home again. I'm becoming quite attached to Meadow and Miss Sissy as well as the others. The main character, Beatrice reminds me a little of Jessica Fletcher from "Murder, She Wrote". I like Beatrice's sense of style, not to mention, the description of her little southern style cottage, her garden, and her little corgi. She is a novice quilter and a good sleuth with a quiet observation of those around her.

It was a joy to read about a quilt retreat, descriptions of Posy's quilt shop, as well as a stray kitten that sounded soooo adorable that I wanted to adopt her. In the end, I was sad to see the story end, but very happy for a good getaway read.

I enjoyed it, but I like this type of series. I have read the author in other series, but none of these. It is light reading.

Story moves along, yet it was interesting. So many side lines to explore, while moving on with the with the main plot.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Craig's Myrtle Clover books I turned to Southern Quilting for a fresh Cozy by an author I enjoy. I wasn't disappointed! Loved the characters, especially the heroine Beatrice and her growing relationship with Wyatt. Since this was the first SQ I read I missed a little character development, such as just who June Bug is and a little more on Miss Sissy, but overall I really enjoyed this book and will now go back and read the first three in order. Very cozy reading. :-)

Fast paced, easy read. Great when you do not want to get bogged down in a major read. Good beach book.

A great quick read with the familiar characters returning from the Dappled Hills quilt club. Picks right up where you last left this querky group but you can also start here if you haven't read any of the other books in the series. The author does a great job of bringing the reader up to date with the storyline.

While the murder and activities surrounding it were "okay" I didn't find this book to be as interesting. It seemed slow and even boring at times. A lot of repetition and e massive details had me skipping paragraphs. Even put me to sleep a bit.

Another great WHO DONE IT.Beatrice loves solving the who did it.even when it becomes dangerous to her. Looking forward too the next book in the series and seeing how Beatrice and Wyatt are getting closer to a relationship. If you like Cozy Mysteries this is a great series too read.
