Imaginative Sex Kindle Edition
In 1974, the author of the controversial and popular Gor novels revealed his vision for an exciting, fulfilling sex life for all. Imaginative Sex outlines John Norman’s philosophy on relations between the sexes. In the first nine chapters, from “Imaginative Sex: The New Sexual Revolution,” through “Love, Hunters and Evolution,” “Marriage, Sex and Normality,” “Sex and the Brain,” “Marriage and the Ventilation of Emotions,” “Privacy,” “Disease,” “Requirements for Imaginative Sex,” to “Imaginative Techniques,” Norman details and develops his theories and ideas about sex in the modern age. In the tenth chapter, “Sensuous Fantasies: Recipes for Pleasure,” he presents fifty‑three scenarios designed to reintroduce fantasy and intimacy to the bedroom. Examples include: the Aphrodisiac Fantasy, the Rites‑of‑Submission Fantasy, the Lady Fantasy, the I‑Am‑His‑Slave‑Girl Fantasy, the Safari Fantasy, and the Blindfolded‑Lovers Fantasy, as well as many other sensuous suggestions, detailed for the enjoyment of all truly adult readers. Find out what really lies behind the philosophy of Gor and the ways in which role-playing can spice up any love life. The book ends with an epilogue and a set of appendices that cover these important topics: Garments, Ties, Apparel in Fantasy, Notes on How to Buy a Slave Girl, and Notes on Investments, Documents, and Conception.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2014Not everyone "gets" the authors style in his Gor series. But many love it either way. I actually enjoy the authors style in Gor and I appreciate the subtle psychology and history lessons. But this book is not Gor. Here you will find a lot of insight and some very good advice, especially shared as "scenes". The author expresses the ideas well and the writing is very good.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2010In reading the 7 reviews above, I find it amusing that some have trouble separating their fantasy life from their real life. This book is about enhancing one's sexual experiences with a rich imaginative fantasy life. Some, mired in and comfortable with routine and sameness, will find John Norman's mostly male dominated fantasies uncomfortable even offensive. But whether you wish to admit it about yourself or not, all of us, regardless of gender have both dominant and submissive facets of the whole personage that is YOU. John Norman, despite the male dominated Gor series, credibly delves into both of those facets of himself, in that series and in this book.
Enjoyment of this type exploration of one's self requires: the ability of introspection, courage to experiment, inate curousity, and a well developed imagination. I enjoy reading John Norman as an escape from the types of "slavery modern society inflicts" on all of us. (a little of Norman's premise).
If more explanation than that is necessary, you will never understand. Don't buy the book.
If curious, buy it. Enough said.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2014I owned a copy back in the late 70's but lost it. For many years I searched to find another copy. In fact, I met my late husband who owned a book store by asking for him to see if he could find it. In the 90's I called the publisher only to be told by a very snooty woman, their company didn't produce pornography like that. When I tried to explain it was written for a married couple to spice up their relationship, she slammed the phone down. I did see l copy the seller was asking $111.00 so I decided it wasn't that important to have.
It is enjoyable reading and by role playing scenarios, you can be princess, pirate or sultan who has a captured female/male do whatever your heart desires. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2011The first time I came across this book I was 16 and digging around in my parents closet looking for something I have forgotten now. Of course, I couldn't resist looking at it. After they divorced my father got rid of the book and I have searched for the last twenty years to find it. I am happy to finally have my own copy. To say it greatly influenced my taste in sex is an understatement. If your looking to spice up your love life, I highly recommend this book. What I learned from it the first time around has kept my marrage going for 20 years. Having a copy handy, I hope will keep it going for another 20 years. We don't ever get bored around here. LOL

- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2014One of the first "bedroom fantasy" books, and hard to find in the paper version. However, it purveys an attitude toward women which will offend many in the present day.
