The Makeover Takeover (Having the Boss's Baby Book 1559) Kindle Edition
From: Lauren
Date: 12/01
RE: I'm not a pregnant virgin!
You'll never believe what Rafe did today! He asked me if I was pregnant! Just because he suspected my flu was morning sickness. The worst of it is, as soon as I denied it, he looked relieved! He said he didn't really think it possible. Does he mean he doesn't believe anyone would want me enough to get me pregnant? Watch out, Rafe Mitchell, you drop-dead gorgeous bachelor. Because once you see the new and improved Lauren, you won't doubt any man would long for me!

From the Author
I just want to say I loved writing this book! Loved the concept of the series (where the heck is that lost sperm, anyway?) and loved the books of the other authors involved (and so thrilled to have been included!). Love that the MAKEOVER TAKEOVER is set at Christmas time and that Lauren and Rafe live in Chicago (definitely, as the song says, my kind of town).
And I especially love that shy and retiring Lauren manages to thoroughly shake-up her sexy, kind, but definitely over-confident boss, Rafe. (You go, girl!)
As always, thanks so much for picking up one of my books.
Happy Reading!
Sandy
From the Inside Flap
Rafe gave Lauren a rueful smile. "I'm sorry. I never intended to say what I did."
To his surprise, she smiled back. "That's okay. Forget about it," she said almost cheerfully. "Actually, you did me a favor."
"I did?"
She nodded. "I thought over what you said, and I decided you were right."
That should have been a good thing, yet Rafe suddenly felt wary. "Right about what?" he asked cautiously.
"What you're always telling me. That I need to develop some backbone. Set goals, get out more. That I should learn to fight for what I want."
Rafe relaxed again, leaning back in his chair. He gave her an approving nod, pleased that she was finally taking his advice. "Good. Glad to hear it. So what is it that you decided you want?"
"A man."

- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2017I enjoy Sandra Paul's sense of humor. It comes across in all her writings. Frankly, I wish there were more books of hers to read because she reminds me of Kasey Michaels.
This hero, Rafe, has never developed emotional relationships, given his traumatic childhood, going through multiple upheavals in foster care. Other than commitment-phobic, he remains relatively unscarred, but unable to recognize his feelings and the impact of those.
Our heroine, Lauren, is a nurturing figure, who seems to have surfeits in her personality to compensate for the hero's lacking. So it appears to be a good match.
However, the characterization and conflict could have been deeper. As a simple story of a couple coming together it does well. Unfortunately, I wanted more. It felt as if Lauren got pigeon-holed into the conventional, traditional role of a woman. Her career appears to be her hobby, whereas it's his lifeblood---why are we stereotyping women in the 21st Century? It would have been great if Lauren could have been generous, giving, maternal AND career-minded so that readers know these roles aren't mutually exclusive.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2015This book has both humor and romance and makes for good reading. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I would recommend it to anyone that likes romance books.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2015Good story line but just ok. Not one of the best, but not the worst either. Light read for a Sunday afternoon.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2015I enjoyed the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2004Oh, the angst these women have!
Rafe Mitchell, 31, has been looking after Lauren for the past three years - since she first hired on at Kane Haley, Inc.
His boss, Kane, sure set fire to his imagination when he is asked if Lauren is pregnant. Lauren, No Way! Kane is too old for Lauren.
Rafe steps up his attentions to the shy Lauren and falls hopelessly under her spell. Lauren is just too prim and introverted.
Somewhere along the line Lauren gets the impression that Rafe thinks no man could want her. Boy, does she show him!
With her makeover she has more than one man looking at her - this causes trouble with her boss, Rafe.
This is a really neat story and is 3rd in the series -- #1 WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT by Judy Christenberry -- #2 A PREGNANT PROPOSAL by Elizabeth Harbison ------- now onto #4 LAST CHANCE for BABY by Julianna Morris.
Definitely Recommended set --- try them.
