I read the synopsis and was intrigued. After reading the story, it was much better than I expected. The story pulled the reader in and didn't let go until the end.

This paranormal romance showed the insecurities of the human female protagonist and the development of the male shifter lead. I loved this world and the well developed characters. My interest was definitely piqued at this author's world building skills and hopes she will write further of/in this unique supernatural universe.

Shifter was an enjoyable read! The story's premise of a guy being turned into a housecat is what lured me in...I was already laughing. The book had a lot of interesting characters, and crazy/bad characters - like Mave - are always entertaining (Nothing like a hot, but psycho stalker witch, right)? I got a feel for and liked Abby, and Demitri - who made a rather cool Maine Coon, when he wasn't one big, hot human shifter - lol.
As the story progressed, Abby became a stronger, more forceful person, which was a relief from the scores of TSTL 'heroines' one runs into in some paranormal stories.

The book could have used some proofreading, however. There were a lot of homonym errors; for example, bare being used in regards to having children, when bear should have been used. Also, dropped, missing words, a few typos, etc.
In the book, Dimitri is over 140 years old, but goes around saying that he's 32. That's fine. What's a bit creepy is the fact that it is mentioned that he barely looks over 20...so now, it looks like Abby is robbing the cradle? Eeeew...
Being a 'cat lady', there was an issue for me regarding Abby's cat Sebastian...when everyone had to leave Abby's house to escape the bad guys, no one bothered to bring along Sebastian...they just left him. A loving cat lady wouldn't have forgotten the cat!

Still - Shifter was a great story, and I see a sequel in the future!

A sweet love story with a truly relatable heroine and a dashing hero. Abby has fought to be in the place she is when she "meets" Dimitri! Circumstances bringing them together - are paranormal normal. Big, bad witch causing havoc within the community and targeting the meek human... HEA - read along, you'll love this story!
Thank you for your time, talent and the story!

I always enjoy a good paranormal story and Shifter was no exception. Dimitri Sullivan is a big bad wolf, literally. That is until he crosses a crazy, psychic witch. And, as they say — Hell hath no fury...

Abby realizes immediately that her new house cat isn’t like other cats. Some of his mannerisms seem almost human — but, that’s crazy, right? Dimitri is grateful he escaped emasculation by neutering; or, worse— death. But, he’s not thrilled to be locked up with a reclusive woman that never leaves the house.

The two of them are forced into an unexpected adventure with magic, mystery, a little romance, sadistic enemies, and an obsessed one-night stand that just won’t go away. For me, Dimitri was the star of this book with his constant humor, sarcasm, and gruff attitude. He was your typical alpha male who found himself in an embarrassing, sometimes compromising, situation. One he was helpless to rectify on his own. This story had it all; love, jealousy, adventure, suspense and a lot of humor. It was a fun, easy, and relaxing read that kept me entertained until the very end. There were a few grammatical errors, but not enough to detract from the story. If you’re looking for a unique paranormal tale be sure to give this one a try.

    ***SPOILER ALERT***

This book definitely had potential. Dmitri as a grouchy cat was fantastic, for starters. And I did finish the book.

But... wow, it wasn't just that the woman had self-esteem issues, there was the added Mary-Sue element to it that was just flat out annoying. Let's see - according to her, she's fat and unattractive, but every single guy in the book is interested in her and asks her out. Every single one.

I thought the whole 'why they love each other' was really badly done, as in, I couldn't figure out why they fell in love with each other. She doesn't know him at all. All she knows is that he was drunk, made promises to a witch, and didn't keep them. Yet when he says this to her, she's automatically sympathetic and on his side, and worse, proceeds to slut-shame the witch. (By telling her that Maeve is the kind of woman that men sleep with, but our heroine, who seemingly never leaves the house, is the kind that men marry. Gross. Gross. Gross. I'm not in 1950 anymore.)

There was the germ of a cool story there, but the holier-than-thou heroine kind-of ruined it for me.

This is an awesome love story. An excellent real honest to goodness fall in love story. There's also action adventure some keystones cop worthy comedy, a sexy shifter, and a curvy heroine that I can relate to more than I care to admit. This is without a doubt my favorite book this year...everyone needs to read it. In fact I'm buying a copy for my best friend now.

This was a fun read! Demitri is a riot as a cat. This was a great approach to the shifter sub genre.

This is the second Jennifer Reynolds novel I've read, & I really enjoy her style. The steamy moments, while detailed, doesn't overshadow the story. But, I have to say, Dimitri cat was the highlight of the book, for me!

I'm happy to report that Ms. Reynolds is equally proficient with urban fantasy, as she is with apocalyptic zombies. (Read them, read them all!)

There is a sweet romance between the two leads, & there is indeed a HEA. I'm sure I'll read this one again :)

I'm sorry to say that this ended up on my 'did/could not finish' pile.

Though the storyline seemed sound and there was an interesting concept behind this with a new set of rules regarding shifters etc I just really struggled with this. The dialogue was stilted at best, the narrative was very stilted and came across as watered down reading. There were none of the usual contractions such as I'm instead of I am. It didn't flow as easily as I hoped something like this would have done. The male lead came across as a huge slut and the female lead, despite past trauma, came across as waspish yet wimpy.
