4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 6 ratings

Kept for the pirate’s pleasure!

Instinct told her that Captain Justin Sylvester was a man she could trust. But how could this pirate, who had just stormed her ship, be a true man of honour? Captive on the high seas, with nowhere to run, curiously Maribel Sanchez had never felt more free. If she returned to rigid society she’d become an old man’s unwilling wife. If she stayed with Justin he’d made it abundantly clear she would become his more than willing mistress…

Top reviews from the United States

I enjoyed this book as it was relaxing to read and not too challenging mentally. It is a holiday book

I find this story a mixing bag to review for while I enjoyed it for the most part, some parts were not so good. For example: I felt as though some of the relationships Maribel had with the other characters were woefully underdeveloped to the point where a minor character died I was shocked by her sobbing reaction because I barely remember the two sharing a single scene together. Also the book sadly tells more than shows, and I often felt as though most of Justin and Maribel's attraction was physical based rather than emotional. There were also some scenes (avoiding spoilers) that I felt should have been extended cause it would have been a good moment for some action and drama. Instead moments that should have lasted a couple chapters are only on for a couple pages and are quickly finished.
Despite those issues, I found the premise interesting and I was happy when she finally started defending herself. I also enjoyed the male lead for he fit the classic "dashing pirate who will defend and protect his lady" trope quite well.

Overall this is a nice little read. Sure some of the supporting characters could have been fleshed out more and it should have shown more than tell, but the main romance is good and a nice example of the classic pirate romance story.
