Simply Redwork: Quilt and Stitch Redwork Embroidery Designs Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 98 ratings

Red means go when it comes to sewing quilts, bags, accessories, and more with the popular Create and Craft TV presenter.

Mandy Shaw is well known for her distinctive sewing designs and motifs and in this book she brings her own style to the traditional and increasingly popular technique of redwork embroidery.

You will learn how to create two quilts, the first has nine different heart-shaped quilt blocks, each with a different motif and theme, such as polar bears, scissors and honey bees. The second quilt is a variation which includes a nine patch block.

Mandy then demonstrates how to use the different motifs to make up 12 simple projects such as pin-cushions, keyrings, hanging hearts and bags—ideal for sewers who don’t want to tackle the full quilts.

A helpful stitch guide with step illustrations will provide you with all the stitch techniques you will need, in addition, full-size templates for all the motifs are included together with a full alphabet enabling you to personalize your makes.

Whether you’re an experienced stitcher looking for inspiration or a novice sewer looking for new ideas, this title has something for everyone!

The book is wonderful, but don't get the kindle version! you need to be able to trace the patterns and kindle has no way to copy- probably because of copy right laws!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mandy Shaw's redwork patterns are fun to do
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 14, 2016
Such lovely patterns from a great author and sewing supremo . I have so far embroidered three of the redwork patterns and instead of making them into a quilt, I have made them into three pretty hanging hearts dotted around my house. Highly recommended book.

NB I also bought a kit from Mandy Shaw's website, Dandelion Designs, and made a redwork bag to keep my embroidery in. The bag is always in my handbag and I take it out to while away the time when waiting at the doctors or in the car for the children.

I love Redwork and Mandy Shaw designs - exactly what I have been looking for 'Heart Designs' - I will probably turn it into a quilt as you go type quilt after I have done each embroidery - I also like Mandy's tips for working redwork online

4.0 out of 5 stars A usable book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 11, 2015
Love the book as it inspires as well as explains and you can dip in and do different projects rather than have to 'build up your skills' before doing what you fancy. As each project is hand sewn you can take it anywhere (like the doctors waiting room) and you soon finish. The scissor keeper was easy, so I've done a few in the last month since I got the book (Shhhhh..christmas presents). Like the template section at the back too as it will help me personalise other projects. A book that won't just be something that you'll get round to using but one that you definitely will.
