You'd think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you'd be wrong. Because now, the aliens are having ship trouble, and they've left their cargo of human women - including me - on an ice planet. And the only native inhabitant I've met? He's big, horned, blue, and really, really has a thing for me...

A new copy, just a couple of dings
I just got my copy last night and so excited to start reading it. The only con is when the package was opened I noticed a small tear on the spine, some corners and edges are a little dented as well. Overall the book is in good condition just a couple dings. Probably a combination of the packaging and the shipping itself. Still can't wait to read it though.

Storyline moves fast, Sexy aliens with perfect body parts rescuing and taking care of you, instant attraction and great writing style that is well edited.

If you want a little escapism, something fun and cute that reads quick, this is it. Bad aliens kidnap woman, good aliens rescue them when they crash-land. Background of the world is concise and done well. Aliens are a cave dwelling, but emotionally sweet tribe.

i enjoyed this and will read others in the series.

I love finding new authors! Well, those who newly pop-up on my paranormal romance radar anyway, and most especially I love it when they are GOOD. I have read all 4 books, and this review speaks more to the series than just this one book. I have to say she did not disappoint on any of them!

Ruby is very clearly an experienced author, and everything is polished beautifully. *happy sigh* Not only is it WELL written and edited, but the dialog and exposition is wonderful. It's nicely descriptive but still succinct. She did a very good job of dealing with the language barrier while keeping the reader engaged. Also, considering the world, she kept the plots fresh and moving along, each book adding a new nuance to the world building without being overwhelming. The characters are nicely robust but don't have a whole lot of "back on Earth" sorts of stories which would show their dimensionality a bit more. I guess none of these gals had hobbies, but they are only 22. That makes them largely a blank slate unless their life was somehow extraordinary, and they are pretty average on that score. That said, I do like all characters we've been introduced to, but my favorite was Georgie. I loved her attitude, it would actually really fit her character to learn she was a military brat as a youngster before her parents left the military. That's NOT in the story, but that's the kind of "deal with what's in your face to the best of your ability and don't whine about it" attitude she has. I loved her!

The sa-khui are an interesting people. I have never read a story where the hero has a tail! I love how very matter of fact it all is, too. Perfect! Alas, very little backstory yet about these people beyond the major events as they evolve in the books. I literally can't tell you much about them other then what they look like, they are a primitive survival subsistence culture, and then the events we learn in the books. Not very fleshed out yet, but it's a gold mine waiting to be tapped. Do the sa-khui even still have a written language? I don't think so, since it hasn't been mentioned. That said, they did just have a big culture shifting event before this first story began and that could be pointed to as the cause for a lot of knowledge loss. I have to admit when it was revealed what the cootie was, where it come and how it works, my first thought was "and how exactly did you people initially figure that out?" Because that's got to be a good story!

Why rate it four stars? I loved the editing and overall polish, the story, the world, and the characters. I also love how it's evolving and how much potential it has. What didn't I like? This was NOT a problem in books 1-3 for me, but by the 4th one it really started to sink in - the lack of sustainability. Absolutely a "plan for next season" only type of culture. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll be deliberately cryptic. I also know this is a fantasy world, and problems such as hunting the source of infant survival into extinction (especially with the upcoming baby boom) can be glossed over and ignored, but on an ice planet like this ... resource management will be the determining factor for long term survivability. Knowing that is starting to make me panic for the characters - I like them!! I want them to live and thrive. I know that one of the women mentioned being in vet school, and I have some seriously high hopes that this will be addressed in the future books! A human with basic animal husbandry awareness (looks at Lisa) is going to look at some of the animals on that planet and think "can I milk that?" or "can that be a pack animal?" I love that one woman was working on spinning yarn. Yay! It's there, just nascent and unexplored. I also just have to toss this in because it's a common problem in my Atkins diet household. A meat-only diet is very boring, even if you mix up the meat. Now I'm assuming that the cootie is making it so humans can deal with that diet without going mad, but still. At least one person has to be more of a foodie who starts demanding "find me some friggin' veggies, milk and eggs!" Again, resource management. Somewhere on that world has to be some serious vegetation to account for all the animals running around being eaten, and why aren't there more roaming packs of owl/bears on the surface hunting? Nocturnal, or alternative? Now that could be interesting. I'm also curious about the cooties. Why is just one different? How does a mother beast give it to her kids, since clearly she's alive? They respond to their own song, can they be communicated with in any other way? Like Harlow's dream? These last few aren't complaints, they are me getting excited about future possible content in the books now that the foundations are set out.

Overall, amazing stuff. I wish this author had more paranormal works so I could get it. Her writing is just plain fun to read! I highly recommend it. If you are into sustainability and survival/living history skills like I am, then it's also kind of fun to watch a collection of pampered, know-nothing youngsters being tested on how best to survive. -- Oh yes. HUGE caveat - this first book does have a rape scene. Considering the content, she did a great job of handling it without getting too emotionally invested in it. It did not happen to the main character, but she did witness it. If you have any kind of triggering event, either skip that part or skip to book 2.

Just finished "Ice Planet Barbarians" by Ruby Dixon. This is the first book in a long series of LOTS of beautiful blue aliens! Now heads up, this book is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It is spicy and "different" as the couples consist of 7 foot blue aliens with tails, so be warned. Now, this author is a great writer! I was instantly drawn into this story and the writing. The characters are amazing and the relationship growth was so fun to read. I can't wait to continue this series and read more about these hot blue aliens and their mates!

This is my first SciFi read and it was ok. It’s weird without being too weird. It was quick. Not overly repetitive. It was interesting. I had low expectations and it met them. I mean that in a good way. I think when trying a new genre you have to keep expectations lows and keep an open mind. So I wasn’t disappointed. The book sets up each character for a spin off. There aren’t any distracting typos. It was good.

Georgie and Vektar are an adorable couple! For a 7 foot, horned, blue alien he is an amazing book boyfriend! He treats her like a queen from the very first time he sees her. I picked up this book as a joke! Intending to do some light, mindless reading before bed. I was not expecting to love it as much as I did! It’s a very sweet story of acceptance and unconditional love. Immediately picking up book 2! It’s a very easy read but it gives you all the feels!

Really liked it. The smut was really good and it had a good plot that I personally enjoyed. Please read the tigger warning to this one. I don’t have issues with triggers but was not expecting what I read but that is completely on me.

I’m wasn’t expecting much from this book, even though the Reddit romance subs were all over it. Just because a book is popular doesn’t mean it’s good.

At first, I didn’t like this and almost dnf’d it within the first chapter for a couple of reasons. One being I don’t care much for narration using first person present tense PoV. It usually makes it feel like ‘author self-insertion’ me. I’m not trying to be a snob about it but it just doesn’t seem professional. Well, I soon got over it. After they meet each other, it becomes dual PoV and a lot better.

The second reason for the initial dislike is the fact that the mmc sounded very military. I was in the military at one point, and it kind of brought back some memories of the survival-mode. I wasn’t expecting to encounter it, which is why it put me off at first. But I decided that that wasn’t a good reason to dnf this book. Her emotional reactions rang true to the situation, I feel.

I really loved the mmc and how protective and adoring he is. I like his personality a lot. I won’t go into it further so there won’t be spoilers.

I do feel that the book is a bit short but, I’m guessing the following books will flesh things out (pun intended).

The author states that this book is a bit darker than usual for her, but except for one scene, the angst doesn’t pervade the rest of the book, which is good, because I just stopped reading another series by a different author because the angst between the mc’s got to be too much for me, dragging on and on.

This is a short and sweet little novel, and I think it was a good first choice to get to know this author. It had some very amusing dialogue, and the way the language barrier was handled was great.

This book was a finding. It bombed on booktok and of course I had to check it out after hearing good things about it. Now, my life is defined by before and after this series. I absolutely loved, and I didnt know that I would like aliens so much!! Ruby is a amazing writer, and I've become addicted to the happy feeling her books bring me. You can rest assure that will be a ~spoiler~ hea ~spoiler~ and really, I think this is part of the appeal to me, because I need this reassurance. Nowadays, I've already read a lot of ruby's books and will continue the journey. This will absolutely be on my list of favorites of the year <3

This is really well written and though some may find the repeating of Vektal’s species differences on several occasions too much, I found it just right. I really enjoyed reading both Georgie and Vektal’s points of view and laughing as they tried to understand each other’s language.
The world building in this book is brilliant considering how short it felt - I read the whole thing in one night! As soon as I finished I bought the second one because I need to know what happens next.
I will say before you read the book, read the TW page if you have triggers, I don’t so I didn’t read them but looking over them afterwards I don’t think it will detract from the story to read them as the main ones happen right at the beginning of the book.

SPOILERS:

Georgie is minding her own business. She’s a drive through bank teller and leads a quiet life; until she’s abducted from her bed by aliens.
Whilst held captive by the grey, and the ‘basket ball’ aliens, she is placed in a cage with others.
The human women are all 22, single, not pregnant, and have no one close to them.
After a horrific time aboard the spaceship, there’s some turbulence and the women and Georgie use the distraction to their advantage. Unfortunately, their cargo hold is sent on a crash landing towards an unknown planet - though the women hope it’s Earth.
With all of them hurt to some degree, they find they’re on a mountain. The Gil is getting cold, there’s a crack in it which is letting in snow, and they have minimal rations. It’s decided Georgie, with her possibly broken ribs and wrist will be the one to trek out in the snow wearing the only clothing suitable enough for this cold environment.
Outside the land is harsh and cold. Georgie begins heading down the mountain in the hope of finding civilisation, hopefully someone, some way, to help them get back to earth. What she finds is a strange alien planet with dangerous creatures. As she tries to escape she gets caught in a hunters trap.
Hanging upside down, the blood rushing to her head and fear forcing her heart to pound, Georgie sees a big white furred creature heading for her as she blacks out…
