4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 179 ratings

The debut novel from SYTYCW winner Amanda Cinelli!

Suave, sensual and utterly scandalous…

Leo Valente is as notorious as the tabloids make him out to be. But feisty wedding planner Dara Devlin isn't deterred. She needs his family castle for her top client, so she boldly accepts Leo's outrageous challenge to be his fake girlfriend.

If Dara thinks her sensible suit and unwavering professionalism will discourage him, she's mistaken. They only make Leo want to get beneath her buttoned-up exterior all the more!

Surrounded by the imposing walls and haunting memories of his opulent Sicilian castello, Leo finds seducing Dara is the perfect diversion—and claiming her will be this playboy's ultimate prize.

And the story continues in the bonus novella included!

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dara is a strong heroine and I loved how feisty and fierce she was. I loved everything about her from her independence to her vulnerabilities, she shown through out." Four stars, Harlequin Junkie

"Cinelli's charming characters and lovely descriptions make for an entertaining read. Dara is particularly well drawn in her determination to succeed, and in her desire for Leo." Four Stars, RT Book Reviews

About the Author

Amanda Cinelli was raised in a wonderfully large Irish / Italian family in the suburbs of Dublin. Her love of romance was inspired after "borrowing" one of her mother's beloved Mills & Boon novels at the age of twelve. A penchant for writing soon developed as a necessary outlet for her wildly overactive imagination. Now married with a daughter of her own, she splits her time between changing nappies and writing love stories.

Amanda was born into a large Irish-Italian family and raised in the leafy green suburbs of County Dublin, Ireland. After dabbling in a few different career paths, she finally found her calling as an author after winning an online writing competiton with her first finished novel. With three small daughters at home, her days are usually spent doing school runs, changing diapers and writing romance. She still considers herself unbelievably lucky to be able to call this her day-job.

This was a quick, enjoyable story with plenty of emotion as well as some sexual sizzle. I'm glad though that the sex wasn't something that was instantly acted upon.

Leo was quite the surprise especially since there was so much hidden suffering. Everyone thought he had led such a golden life and that was so far from the truth. And Dara had her own personal tragedy that she had pushed deep. She never wanted to feel less-than ever again.

I liked how the story finished along with the bonus novella that shows an even better bonus to their lives later on. I viewed " Christmas at the Castello" as an Extended Epilogue.

Leo is a rich playboy with haunted memories of his past. Dara is a wedding event planner and she has one shot at planning the biggest wedding of her career. She needs Leo's family Castello to host the wedding and what follows is all the trials she has to go through before Leo agrees to lease the Castello to her. What both of them didn't bargain for is love to come in the way especially with Dara's inability to have children.

Light read with exotic Sicilian locations.

What I loved about this book was its super-fresh voice, apparent from the very first line! It's fun, fast-moving, packed with intelligent and well-drawn characters, and a cool honest dash of humour exactly when you want it. Dara is an absolute jewel of a heroine, and as the pages turn, I was honestly captivated by her strength, conviction, and self-belief - a heroine reflective of so many real women, hurrah! Leo's character is rich with description and emotion, and I loved watching him react to the challenges that Dara throws back in his face, she really was a joy to behold.

Read this book for a fun story set in beautiful Italy, but relish this fresh new voice of fiction. Resisting The Sicilian Playboy is a delicious read, and I look forward to Amanda Cinelli's upcoming publications.

Ugh! I should have resisted more! Sorry I spent the money. If this book won a prize and supposedly was read by those choosing the prize winner, why are there errors in continuity, spelling, gender, etc.? The H was not likeable and the h only mildly so. There was no joy in this book, or romance except for sex according to the romance writers check list.

Resisting the Sicilian Playboy by Amanda Cinelli is simply brilliant. The plot is entertaining and descriptions vivid and the characters strong, independent and successful in their own right. Leo is the perfect alpha and Dara a stunning match for him! This is an author whose work I would look forward to reading and re-reading in the future. Her talent shines and sparkles in this splendid story. I guarantee fellow romance readers would not be disappointed with this brand new Presents author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome revamp of a much loved classic

The suspense and atmosphere had me hooked from page one, add to that a plethora of witty dialogue and I was sold! It was a great to read about two highly charged and powerful individuals coming to terms with themselves and each other. I loved how the heroine asserted herself, her independence and her own finances (not in the usual annoying ninny way) in the face of his billionaire ways, a very Jane Eyre-esque desire for equality with her lover. Looking forward to the authors next release with much anticipation.
