“Wow. This book was burn-prints-off-fingertips-hot.” NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author Kimberley Troutte.

Fortuna Allenthorpe is at her wits end. Her family have engaged her to odious Sir Hector, a man she despises beyond measure. Convinced that the destruction of her reputation will free her, Fortuna flees into the night with infamous scoundrel, Giles Dovecote and his debauched friends the Darleston twins. Too bad, then, that her betrothed is more interested in her impressive inheritance than her errant virtue. What’s more, he’s prepared to destroy her family to ensure he gets it.

A vocal advocate of free love, Giles isn’t looking for a wife. Past mistakes weigh heavily on his conscience, but Fortuna makes him want things he considers off limits. As the stakes mount, how long can he hold fast to his principles, if they mean surrendering the woman he loves to a hellish match?

I truly enjoyed this book. I like regency stories but most are very dry, I'm guessing most of the authors writing them don't believe people back then were capable of wild monkey sex. However, this book had a heat level off the chart. The basics, women are property & have little or no say in who they marry, held true but the story was intriguing if TOO LONG.

This book was in sorry need of an editor w/ a sharp red pencil. If the story had been shorten by 40-50%, it could have been terrific instead of good. It's a rare book, & this isn't one of them, that can keep my interest for over 300+ pages. Ellis covered areas not needed & dragged occasionally in descriptions.

If you enjoy a HOT regency w/a solid story, look no further.

I didn't hate this book. It was a free purchase with an interesting hook, I missed the "erotica" part of the description, because it is quite pornographic, which isn't necessarily a deterrent - just a word to the wise. The storyline and characters were interesting, but I felt the story dragged to long towards the inevitable end and just got annoying as opposed to concluded. It did end fairly well by the time the author got to it. The supporting characters, both supportive rakehells to the hero, had interesting depth and substance which I enjoyed and liked more than the hero himself. The heroine, while a bit hairbrained and contradictory at times wasn't unlikeable. The hero, however, I had the most trouble with. His reasons became tiresome and should have resolved sooner, I wanted to like him but he came off as rather weak contrary to the author's attempt to make him strong in his convictions and opinions. He behaved like a dolt the majority of the novel. I did not like the resolution of his dead sister, the author tried too hard to make it fit into the hero's world unnecessarily and further painted the hero as a blind fool to me. Three Times the Scandal wasn't terrible and had its steamy moments, but it wasn't cohesive or intriguing enough to seek out more of the series.

This story is hot, hot, HOT! Excellent pacing, sky-high stakes and believable settings and villains. I will absolutely be reading more of her work. However. Whoever (or whatever software) edited this novel needs some grammar and syntax lessons. The book is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors (and I'm not talking about differences between UK and US spellings, I'm talking about using the wrong form of their/there/they're, incorrect homophones and other issues.) Not sure if the novel was perhaps dictated and the software got the form wrong or what, but the grammar is all over the place and took me out of the story a fair few times. In addition, if the author is going to use foreign language names, she should really learn the basics of that language to construct them - putting an accent grave on the end of a name isn't done in French. That character's name should have been either Clemènce or Clemencé. Both options are still ridiculous names, but sticking an è on the end of the name would never be done in French and would make the name be pronounced Clay-manse-uh and it's weird and has no flow. Again, this may be a vagary of the editing software and this character and her name aren't central in this plot (which again, is AMAZING and sexy) but the character shows up enough and the name is spelled weirdly enough that it just... It feels wrong to the eye.

All that said, I will be following this author and reading more of her work. Her storyline and grasp of plot are fantastic, and the story moves forward with just the right pace - the conflicts and the heroes' struggles add texture to the story, rather than being nonsensical devices for separating the heroes and heroine.

TL;DR - amazing story and characters, but the author should fire her editor (or replace her editing software).

Soft core pornography, but it was much more lurid than that. There was no warning attached to the book description, so I thought I was getting a light read historical romance. I am no prude, but this book should seriously have a warning attached to it. People can live, and love, as they wish, however, that does not mean I want to read about it in something I was not warned was rather pornography detailed. Within the first couple chapters there is everything from an invitation for the protagonist to join his friend and an unnamed debutante, to a brother sharing his twin's wife and the husband having their acts described to him and he and the female subject watch the coupling, to said female masturbating by instrumentation with a candle. I cannot comment on the remainder of the book, I could go no further. This received only the one star necessary to post a warning review.

This is not a book for the puritanical woman. It's an interesting and revealing side to an era where there was another aspect of sexual adventures no one talked about...... but you can be sure was rampant. Lots of surprising sexuality with a plausible story as well. If you have a open mind this is a book to read.

Fortuna`s father had promised her in marriage. Giles offered to save her. He didn't believe in marriage, just free love as he didn't believe in owning a wife. He didn't count on falling in love. Worth downloading this book.

Fortuna is offered a somewhat dubious protection by the rakehell Giles when she is desperate to avoid being married off to a revolting man who it turns out is only after her fortune. Giles's idea of rescue involves lots of naughty sex, and not just with him (enter stage right the delightfully wicked Darleston twins) and from then on it's a case of staying one step ahead of the baddie and trying to work their way through to a HEA.

Madelynne Ellis writes great historical romps, but this one - although still full of delicious naughtiness - has a real depth of story to it as well. It is worth reading the books in order, but not at all necessary to get full enjoyment from this stand alone tale.

Warning - might make you dream of grey-eyed redheads that will ravish you in tandem!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good plot, exciting sex

In this book, the fourth in the series, the focus moves to several of the minor characters who appeared in the third book. A chance, but abortive, interaction between the two lead characters during the Phantasmagoria sets up the possibility of the male lead playing protector when the lady is being forced into a marriage she does not want. Of course, in keeping with the earlier volumes, this desire to protect does not result in either decorum or celibacy. An added dimension of sensuality is provided by the involvement of the rakehell Darleston twins.

This story has rather more plot action in it than the earlier ones. It even has a proper baddie. But it also has a degree of poignancy, affection and love. For me, it is the best in the series.

The one negative for me was that far more incongruous modern terms have crept into this volume. I found the use of words such as "restroom" and "punk" really did jar, especially when they were adjacent to more archaic terms. Perhaps this is intended to help American readers feel more comfortable with a story set in Georgian England, but it had the opposite effect on me.
